Wapka Vs WordPress

This post is not written to criticize Wapka. It is written to Compare WordPress and wapka together and it's written by someone who has spent years using both services.
On wapka, I have managed websites for years and on WordPress I have managed several other sites. So, trust me to tell you what you need to know about this. In the end I'll give you examples of situations where each one will be preferable to the other. Ultimately, the choice is yours!

So, what're the main differences between WordPress and Wapka?

1. Owners and Managerial System

This is about the worst thing about Wapka!
Oh, I have already started bashing them. Lols, am sorry but it pains me that such a robust stable, awesome package like Wapka will be wasting away due to lack of innovation in the part of the inventors who have decided to remain hidden for reasons best known to them.

So, speaking of Owners, wapka owners are not known to appear in public. They have names of course but this is a history class and I dont know their names so I'll keep that off. Nevertheless, the owners of wapka don't feature on TV, don't release press news and are - 90% Social. Their social presence is the worst I have ever seen for a forum software.
You can check out their Facebook page and twitter profile if they have any.
I don't know if they want to give the impression that they are nerds or what but when you run such a gigantic network, you don't hide, you come out and let your users know you are there.
So many people have built fortunes on wapka, speaking of great wapka sites like 9jabaze, myschoolnewz, to mention but a few.
I don't want to mention Globelight because I always knew wapka was lacking a lot so I was never taking it as a real long term concept at least on the serious note.
So, I think that for the sake of these wapka nobles, these guys should open up and let people know that their work are in safe hands and not hovering on the Atlantic.

On the other hand, WordPress is trusted by all and sundry including wapka users themselves. Both old and young uses WordPress up publish their sites and they have little to no feat about the idea because WordPress has made it clear over the years that they are out for serious business and the interest of their users is in their head not just heart.
That's why they keep releasing updates of the software frequently but on the other hand, wapka has no such thing as software upgrade as far as am concerned.
Wapka is as it is in the old, now and perhaps forever! Too bad.

2. Support & Active Helpful User base/Forums

WordPress has tons of active users in their millions. And these users are complimented by an equally massive amounts of helpers, WordPress bloggers talking about the software, engineers, hackers finding and blocking security breaches in the system. This is one of those reasons why WordPress is so successful but
Wapka on the other hand has a massive user base and little to no Help, Assistance system in place. You may not know that wapka has an official forum until you register and this forums is one of the worst I have ever seen. Very annoying and they only know how to make announcements that they never really attend to there.
You really need to check out wapka forums and see how out of order it is.
It's an official forum yet full of spam messages which the Admins don't even care about. You can't really find any useful help in the forums, not when you need it.
Speaking of individuals' blogs talking about wapka and helping users, there are very few of them in the past but at the moment, I can't think of any.
There still remain some Asian & Indian forums that helps wapka users but when they are getting little to nothing for their hardwork, how do you expect them to last or Stay strong?

Given some time, these guys can develop anything on wapka and sometimes I start believing the rather common saying... "you can create anything with wapka!" which I bet you is a fallacy. A statement by those that haven't explored the Internet to a reasonable extent.
Not to insult anybody but people should stop saying that. It doesn't just make any sense because it's not true.

So, in terms of support, wapka can be rated users have to figure out a way to help themselves and it's really painful doing it this way. I give wapka 25% while WordPress can reserve 95%.

3. Cost of Running & Maintenance of site

Finally, something for wapka users to smile about. Apart from normal data charges by mobile networks, domain charges, there is virtually nothing that will cost you money when you are managing a wapka site unless you wish to advertise or pay for some other things like codes.

WordPress on the other hand costs little - much to maintain given that you have to pay for your own host and buy your domain as well as pay for plugin and themes when there is need to
Generally, wapka is much cheaper to run and maintain than WordPress sites.
But, to what end?

4. Seo

One of the most important things about running websites these days is Seo. And I'll like to say that Wapka Sites have NO Seo problems.
The people who have problems are the wapka wapmasters who are usually kids under 18 years and they DON'T WANT TO LEARN ABOUT SEO. They usually disregard seo and they suffer for it. In the end, they say stuffs like, Wapka Seo is poor. This is false but true on one condition.

Wapka has very heavy javascript adverts at the bottom of every wapka site and if there is another thing I hate about Wapka, it is this. I won't go further on that advert for now.

Meanwhile, Seo with WordPress is easy for some reasons.

WordPress has numerous plugin that does the major part of the seo for you automatically

WordPress comes with tons of themes that are already Seo Optimized and you can easily South between themes seamlessly and still maintain your site Seo.

But on Wapka, you need to start doing Seo from scratch and work yourself up to a good position on Google and other search engines.

Seo being so broad, wapka kiddies can easily miss out on some of the most important aspects of seo and this puts their sites on a downward spiral.

The mistake of wapka users Seo-wise is to try to Compete with WordPress users by doing as little work on seo as they do forgetting that they already have WordPress working in the background making their work so easy.

By the time they realize that they're not on the same competing grounds, they're long behind and have to go and start doing seo from scratch.
I learnt this the hard way myself when I realized that I had to start doing Seo for my site globelight.wapka.mo bi from scratch. This took time to understand Seo and even more time to implement it.

This resulted in lots of traffic from Google as you should expect. So if you need 10,000 daily visitors from Google, it's very possible my friend. Just bend low, learn seo, I don't mean seo like you see these days. Learn the nitty gritty of seo and start applying on your site. This requires a lot of time and hardwork but I assure you, you'll do something far more better than globelight.wapka.mo bi, 9jabaze if you start now!

Personally, I am more than willing to teach what I know about Seo to Wapka users. Especially the kids who are wasting a lot of time now. I can't help but imagine what it will be like if they learnt seo faster and better in a more Streamlined way. Seo as it has to do with Wapka!

5. Site Management tools

In Wapka, you don't get enough tools and means to manage things, especially members on a big scale.
When you have 100 users to manage, it's pretty easy and with just few minutes daily, you can keep the forums neat but when you have about 8000,it starts becoming scary. How about when you have about 20, 000 it becomes something else or 40,000. You cannot easily maintain growth and manage users effectively with what wapka has provided for you. You need to be creative to handle such enormous amount of users especially when they are active. Am talking about the case of a forum. A system where anyone can contribute.

With WordPress, you even get Automated means of doing this. Shrinking images, adding attributes, title tags, managing redirects, monitoring links, linking and a ton of other useful things that these wonderful plugin do for you!

So, user and content management is difficult with wapka while comparatively easier on WordPress.

6. Language Support

Wapka supports only but a few languages or scripting language.
On wapka, you can only use
Html
Css
Javascript

But on WordPress, this is extended to Php, a very powerful scripting language used across most websites on the Internet.

So, in terms of languages, wapka is way down. So, if you are looking to expand further on a large scale on the future, wapka is not your guy.

My advice to Wapka users

If you want to create a simple site and have no intention of progressing much further than just a simple site in the future, though that's rarely the case, you can use wapka.

But if you dream of expanding as much as possible, you really should quit now.

If you think you love wapka and that's why you won't leave, think again, are you going to marry wapka? If not, dash the love against the wall and walk away.

If money is a barrier, then you have nothing holding you back. A WordPress blog costs less than 7000 naira to open these days and am sure that will some effort, you can being that up and pay to start using WordPress.

And that brings us to the end of this gist and bashing of wapka. Wapka guys , you can start returning the bashing now because you guys are really loyal to the core but don't forget that there is a chance that in the future you may be in my shoes telling People THE TRUTH ABOUT FREE WAPKA!
