How to transfer Wodpress site to another WP site with IMAGES and LINKS

In this post you can find a tutorial on
how to transfer all content from one
Wordpress site to another.
If you did everything correctly then
you may face with another problem –
your images have not been
transferred. I have spent few days
and found a way that will help you
quickly get your images on new
Wordpress site.
1. After transferring all content from
your old Wordpress site to a new
one, don’t forget to move your
uploads folder too. Because all your
images are in this folder. On
wordpress you can find upload
folder here /wp-content/uploads/.
2. On the site where you want to
transfer content upload this folder.
You may use another name for this
folder. For example uploads1 so your
old folder on new site will be here /
wp-content/uploads/uploads1/
3. After that you have to install a
plugin that will replace your old URLs
with new URLs. I used this one
http://wordpress.org/plugins/velvet-
blues-update-urls/
4. Go to the plugin settings and
replace your old URLs with new. In
the line “Old URL” add URL of your
old site – oldurl.com/wp-content/
uploads/.
In the field “New URL” add
newurl.com/wp-content/uploads/
uploads1/. In step 2 choose which
URLs should be updated. You need
only URLs in page content. And click
“Update URLs now”.
After this all your images will be on
your new Wordpress site.
Problems with internal linking
If your old blog had many internal
links then you may want to fix them
automatically. You can do this with
Velnet Blue URLs plugin too. All you
need to do is to replace OLD URL
oldurl.com with new URL newurl.com
and then your internal links will be
working too.
