Newcastle United could be an option for out-of-favour Manchester United
goalkeeper Victor Valdes, according to Catalan daily Sport .
Valdes, who joined Manchester United last year and completed his rehabilitation
from a knee injury at Old Trafford, has fallen foul of manager Louis van Gaal.
The Dutchman has accused the custodian of not following his philosophy and has
frozen him out of the Manchester United first team squad.
Valdes was set to quit the Red Devils in the summer, but a move to Turkish
giants Besiktas collapsed at the last minute.
He has now been tipped to head away from Manchester United in the winter
transfer window as he seeks to get his career back on track.
And given an injury to Tim Krul, Valdes could be an option for a struggling
Newcastle outfit.
Valdes is open to remaining in the Premier League, but it remains to be seen
whether the former Barcelona goalkeeper will end up at St. James' Park.
Krul ruptured his cruciate knee ligament while on international duty for the
Netherlands.
