Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has revealed
that the Reds are desperate to get their first win
under Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers as Liverpool
manager earlier this month, amidst much fanfare
and enthusiasm amongst the supporters, but the
results have failed to match the hype surrounding the
German’s arrival.
Two back-to-back draws against Tottenham and
Southampton in the Premier League, coupled with a
lethargic performance against Rubin Kazan in the
Europa League, has take off some of the lustre from
Klopp’s appointment.
Lallana admits that the team are desperate to get
their first win on the board in the new era under
Klopp and feels the supporters understand that the
players are trying their level best to get things back
into shape for Liverpool.
"We are striving, we really want that first win and I’m
sure the manager does as well", Lallana told the
club’s official website.
"We can sense the buzz around Anfield and around
the city as well. I think everyone has grasped that and
everyone is just working hard to make things right.”
He admitted that conceding a late goal against
Southampton was disappointing, but insisted that the
Reds are working hard to get their first win on the
board under Klopp.
"It was disappointing we drew the game against
Southampton.
"Getting the goal and getting our noses in front, it
would have been a massive result for us, but it just
means we’ve got to strive and keep working harder to
get the win we want."
Lallana and his team-mates will have the opportunity
to gift their new manager with a first win when they
host Bournemouth tonight in a League Cup last 16
clash at Anfield.
