Christian Benteke is desperate to sign for Liverpool as soon as he can and is not
waiting to see if a side from the top four in the Premier League make a move for
him, it has been claimed.
Liverpool have agreed to meet Benteke's £32.5m release clause in his contract at
Aston Villa and the striker is set to undergo a medical with the Reds either on
Monday evening or Tuesday morning.
It had been speculated that the striker could hold out for a top four club, one of
Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City or Manchester United, to make him an offer
and put Champions League football on the table.
But according to Belgian daily HLN , that is not the case.
Benteke wants to move to Liverpool as soon as possible and none of the clubs in
the top four are chasing his services, making waiting of little sense to the striker.
The Belgium international has been Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers' primary
striking target this summer and the Northern Irishman is on the verge of landing
his man.
Rodgers will be hoping Benteke can score the goals to help Liverpool improve on
their sixth place finish in the Premier League last season.
