Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has been charged with misconduct by the FA for his
remarks about match officials in the aftermath of the Blues’ defeat at the hands
of Southampton at the weekend.
The Saints got the better of Mourinho’s side at Stamford Bridge as they
registered a 3-1 win to inflict a fourth loss of the Premier League campaign on
the reigning English champions.
The Portuguese manager was livid at the perceived injustice of not being
awarded a penalty by referee Robert Madley during the course of the match,
saying that the referees are afraid of giving decisions in his team’s favour.
In his post match comments the two-time Champions League manager went on to
say: "The penalty in this game is more than crucial because my team, at the moment,
the first negative thing that happens... they collapse.
"After that the team lost even more confidence. Mentally, psychologically, the team is
unbelievably down.
"If the Football Association wants to punish me they can.
"They don't punish other managers."
The Chelsea boss has until 18:00 BST on 8th October to respond to the FA’s
charge.
Chelsea have endured a difficult campaign in their bid to retain the Premier
League title as they sit 16th in the league standings after first eight games.
