AC Milan are closing on the signing of out-of-
favour striker Fernando Torres from Chelsea.
Torres has slipped down the pecking order at
Stamford Bridge following the arrivals of Didier
Drogba and Diego Costa this summer and was not
even included in the Blues' matchday squad for the
weekend clash against Leicester City.
Jose Mourinho has insisted he wants to keep the
Spaniard, but according to Italian outlet Tutto
Mercato, Torres is on his way to AC Milan.
The Spaniard is set to arrive at the San Siro on a
season-long loan deal.
AC Milan will also hold an option to make Torres'
move permanent should he impress in Italy.
Torres joined Chelsea from Liverpool for a British
record transfer fee of £50m in January 2011, but has
struggled to reproduce his Anfield form at Stamford
Bridge.
AC Milan are keen on the Spaniard to replace Mario
Balotelli, who has been sold to Liverpool for £20m.
