Eligibility:-Applicants must have a first-class or good upper second-class honors degree (or equivalent qualification) in computer science or a closely related discipline. -Applicants must also meet the University’s standard English language entry requirements. -While applicants are not required to hold a completed MSc degree, holding such a degree (or being in the process of obtaining one) would be an advantage. -Ideally applicants should be a good programmer (with knowledge of one of the main functional programming languages such as OCaml, Haskell, SML etc), with background in semantics (particularly operational semantics), theorem proving, and verification. -Applicants must have a strong interest in producing reliable systems. -This studentship is open to suitable UK/EU and International (i.e., outside the EU) applicants. Please note though that the award covers tuition fees at the UK/EU rate only. International applicants (and those not eligible to pay UK/EU tuition fees) must demonstrate at the time of their application that they can fund the difference in tuition fee rates. -The studentship is for full-time study only and applicants must be able to commence their studies in October 2013. -The Department of Computer Science is committed to the Athena SWAN programme and we welcome applications from suitably qualified female candidates.
