St Antony’s College specializes in international relations, politics, economics, history and anthropology. Eni Scholars will be drawn from a pool of applicants holding conditional offers of admission to the following one or two year taught Master’s programmes:

1 year Master’s courses

MSc African Studies
MSc Economics & Social History
MSc Economics for Development
MSc Global Governance & Diplomacy

2 year Master’s courses

MPhil Development Studies
MPhil Economic & Social History
MPhil Economics
MPhil International Relations

About this Scholarship for African Students

St Antony’s College Oxford in partnership with the international integrated energy company Eni, is offering three students from African universities in Angola, Ghana & Nigeria, the opportunity of fully funded scholarships, including fees and living expenses, to undertake postgraduate study at the Master’s level at the University of Oxford UK. By what Criteria is Selection Made?

During the selection procedure for the Eni Scholarship, consideration will be given to qualified students who can demonstrate that they do not otherwise have the financial means to continue their studies at Oxford.
Additional consideration will also be given to any student who has clear ambitions to use their accumulated learning to benefit their native country after graduation.

Scholarship for African Students

Who is qualified to apply for this Scholarship for African Students?

To receive the Scholarship, candidates must satisfy any academic conditions placed by the University on their offers of admission, including providing evidence of their linguistic competence if English is not their first language

Scholarship is open for applicants from Angola, Ghana and Nigeria

How Many Scholarships are available? Three (3) scholarships will be awarded: one winner from each country

What are the benefits of this Scholarship for African Students?

Scholarship recipients will be fully funded with living expenses provided. St Antony’s and Eni are equally keen to provide encouragement and where possible, structured incentives for Eni Scholars to continue their studies or find useful employment back in their home country after graduating from Oxford. Discussions about this are ongoing and scholars will be informed of relevant contacts and partnerships as they emerge.

How long will this Scholarship for African Students last? One or Two years duration of masters programme

The programme aims to appoint one scholar in each of the following countries:

Angola, Ghana, Nigeria

To be taken at (country): St Antony’s College, University of Oxford, UK

What time of year does Application Close?

January 2013 (for application to Oxford); 22 March 2013 (for the scholarship)

How can I Apply for this Scholarship for African Students?

The first step in the process is to complete the University of Oxford application for admission.

Applicants must also send a one-page covering letter to St Antony’s College quoting the reference number from your online University application and giving further information that would support your application – this must also be received by the deadline date.
