To Study abroad in the University of Alberta, you should be conversant with The University of Alberta Admission Status, Scholarships, Tuition Fees, Ranking, Courses Offered.

The University of Alberta, founded in 1908 by Alexander Cameron Rutherford (the first premier of Alberta) and Henry Marshall Tory (its first president), is a non-profit, public research university located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

The university is commonly called U of A or UAlberta. It has four campuses in Edmonton, one Campus in Camrose, and a staff centre in downtown Calgary. The U of A has about 39,300 students, including 7,700 graduate students and 7,800 international students representing 151 countries.

The university offers post-secondary education in about 200 undergraduate and 170 graduate programs. The academic staff composition of U of A is 3,620, along with 15,380 support and trust staff.

The school’s professors have won more 3M Teaching Fellowships (Canada’s top award for undergraduate teaching excellence) than any other Canadian university, a total of 41 awards since 1986.

QS World University Rankings, 2014 revealed that the top Faculty Area at the University of Alberta is Arts and Humanities, which is ranked 89th in the world; and the top-ranked Subject is English Language and Literature, which is ranked 22nd in the world.

Tuition and fees for both fall and winter semesters are slightly more than $5,000 for a typical undergraduate arts student, although they vary widely by program.

University of Alberta Fees
At UAlberta tuition and fees depends on program of study and are calculated using the school’s cost calculator. However, UAlberta offers world-class education and competitive tuition rates in one of Canada’s most affordable urban centres.

Asides tuition, it is necessary to have an estimate of other costs involved in schooling at UAlberta. Below is an estimate of these relevant costs for the period of 8 and 12 months in Canadian dollars. These costs are estimated based on Statistics Canada data.

8 months ($CAD)   12 months ($CAD)

It should be noted that purchase of a meal plan is required for students residing in Lister Hall and optional for those residing in other residences.

Food costs for students living off-campus may vary. Also, a student’s public transit pass for September to April is included in UAlberta’s non-instructional fees.

From May to August, students may purchase a public transit pass. Room and Board costs are estimated $7,153 for 2017-18.

Students are expected to visit the various programmme departments to get their course specific cost or visit the school’s site, searching out their programme of choice and using the cost calculator. However, an estimate to give a general idea of expected cost of studying at UAlberta is not out of place.

Below is an estimate for a UAlberta freshman.

First-year estimate

Tuition fees   $5,321
Non-instructional fees   $1,602
Books and supplies   $1,750
Year 1 total   $8,673
According to uniRank Tuition Range Matrix, cost of schooling in UAlberta for Local Students is within the range of US$5,000 – 7,500 (3,700-5,500 Euro) and for International Students – US$15,000-17,500 (11,000-12,900 Euro).
