Soldiers have been deployed to Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State capital, following the bloody clash caused, on Wednesday, by members of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN,
The town was virtually turned into a theatre of war following a move by some members of the union to remove their chairman, Mr. Rotimi Olabiwonnu, whom they accused of staying in office for nine years instead of the constitutional provision of eight years
During the Wednesday crisis, the faction of the union took over the streets of Ado Ekiti, armed with various dangerous weapons like machetes, axes, charms and guns and shooting indiscriminately to scare the residents, vowing to remove their chairman whom they perceived as a rubber stamp to the governor, Dr. Fayemi.
