The Aviation Minister, Ms Stella Oduah has faulted the recommendations of the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation that investigated the purchase of the controversial bullet-proof cars, saying they were not in line with the proceedings at the hearing.
The Minister made the statement through her Special Adviser on Media, Joe Obi.
The statement said the Ministry will continue to stand by its earlier position on the matter as due process was followed in all transactions relating to the purchase of the bullet-proof vehicles by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.
The statement further argued that the evidence before the Committee, as provided by both the Aviation Ministry and the NCAA clearly showed that the cars were not purchased for the Ministers and were also not purchased in her name.
The statement further clarified that the two vehicles were included as line items under the safety and security vehicles under the Appropriation Act.
Recall that the recommendations of the House Committee on Aviation was adopted by the House of Representatives on Thursday in Abuja. The House had asked President Goodluck Jonathan to begin a critical review of Oduah’s position as a Minister, saying that she has violated the 2013 Appropriation Act.
