Latest Gists In Town / Army Trains 937 Officers On Counter- terrorism
« on: January 31, 2014, 07:16:44 pm »
The Nigerian Army School of Infantry,
Jaji, Kaduna, on Friday said it trained 937
soldiers on counter terrorism as part of
efforts to strengthen the fight against
terrorism.
A breakdown of those, who attended
the six-week training in the school,
showed 489 were from Headquarters
Infantry Corp Centre; 200, 7 Division; and
248, Nigeria Army Ordnance Corps
(NAOC).
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Kenneth
Minimah, said the training was
organised to prepare the soldiers to
efficiently handle the current security
challenges in the country.
He said as part of its efforts to fight
terrorism, the army established new
Division in Borno in the North-East to
add brigades and strengthen army
operations.
“The current security challenges facing
the country, most especially in the North-
East zone of the country, has made the
Nigerian Army concerted efforts in
fighting against terrorism,’’ he said.
Represented by Maj.-Gen. Garba Wahab,
the General Officer Commanding, 1
Division, Nigeria Army, Kaduna, Minimah
commended the soldiers for their level
of discipline and proficiency.
He directed them to deploy their new
knowledge “to counter terrorists acts in
real battle and other emergency
situations”.
Minimah also directed them “to react
swiftly and efficiently” during counter
terrorism operations.
“It is the desire of the Nigeria Army to
make you better professionals in your
respective fields. This can only be
achieved through continuous training.”
In his speech, the Commandant of the
school, Maj.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, said that
the participants had distinguished
themselves during the training, and
expressed confidence in their ability to
rise to any security challenge.
He said: “Nigeria Army School of Infantry
(NASI) has been a major facilitator and
force multiplier in the fight against
terrorism in Nigeria’’.
He appreciated the support of the Army
high command, saying that the school
would continue to discharge its role
more effectively. [NAN]

THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the
House of Representatives, on Thursday,
regained its majority position in the House.
This followed the defection of a member of
APC from Nassarawa State, Honourable David
Ombugadu, to the PDP.
From available records, the PDP now has
174 members as against the All Progressives
Congress (APC) with 172 members.
It will be recalled that a member of APC from
Nassarawa State, Honourable Joseph Kigbu
Haruna, had, on Tuesday, defected to PDP,
while the Nigerian Tribune exclusively
reported that Honourable Ombugadu had
also perfected plan to defect to PDP.
The Speaker, Honourable Aminu Tambuwal,
at the plenary session on Thursday, read a
letter from Honourable Ombugadu, quoting
the lawmaker as saying that he decided to
dump the defunct Congress for Progressive
Change (CPC), which had now merged with
APC for PDP, after due consultation with his
constituents.
The defection of the lawmaker resulted in
jubilation among PDP members, as they
accompanied him to the PDP leaders for
introduction.
Deputy Chairman, House Committee on
Media and Public Affairs, Honourable Victor
Ogene, while responding to questions from
newsmen during the weekly briefing, said
that it was too early to give any political
party in the House a clear majority, saying
that “it (the defection) is an ongoing
process.”

Ryan was dating Rachel and they were both
committed to the relationship. Few years
later, they were separated by distance
because Ryan had to do his Masters degree
program abroad, a means to add more
value to his life. Moreover, they had both
vowed to stay sexually pure until marriage.
Unfortunately, Rachel was swept away by
the show of affection of Tom, a guy whom
she trusted as friend. Tom had a carnal
knowledge of her due to his consistent
pressure. With tears rolling down her cheek,
shewept bitterly everyday, not knowing
what to do. Ryan had dedicated his time,
energies and resources for the success of
the relationship because he truly loved
Rachel and was planning to get married to
her. What will he do if he
discovers? Should he forgive her or move
on with his life?
Forgiveness is such a difficult task in many
relationship whenever some issues arise.
No matter the relationship, whether long
distance or of the same environs, issues are
bound to occur. Some may be major or
minor issues, some can be easily solved
while others requires patience or love.
When I mean love, I mean true love.
However, the maturity or level of
understanding of any of the partner
involved also has a lot to do in resolving
these issues.
No issue that arise in any relationship is
beyond what forgiveness can solve. Oh, you
may say it caused you pain, emotional scar,
regret, delay; or you were abused, deceived,
jilted or manipulated; all of these does not
exclude forgiveness. I know it pained you
and the severity of the harm that was done
was grave, but one thing still hold,
forgiveness can be tolerated. I was
sometimes in the state of unforgiveness
and I know how it feels. My dad physically
abused my mom and it lasted from
childhood till early years of being an adult. I
was among the unlucky ones who do not
enjoyed fatherly love. It took me time (years)
toforgive my dad because our house
became a battlefield and we became an
object of shame to our neighbours. It
wasn't easy but I had to do it. Ever since
then, I experienced happiness in life.
Forgiveness is letting go of the angry or
bitter feelings which you have towards a
person. It will be difficult to practice if you
don't want to be happy in life or you rather
want to live in bitterness. However,
unforgiveness is holding onto the pains
while you cage yourself in the prison bars
of bitterness because of what that person
must have done to you. You wouldn't want
to do that, will you? For any person you
choose not to forgive, your mind will
become an emotional prison that keeps all
offenders. How good is that?
As grievous as the offence is, you must
forgive for the following reasons:
1. For your mind to be free from
resentment, anger, hateful thoughts of
the past or bitterness
If all these are clustered in you mind, it will
prevent you from moving on in life, opening
up to new relationships and opportunities
in life or becoming a happier person. I'm
sure you don't want to lose these benefits.
You need to free your mind from the
negative thoughts of the past so that you
can become emotionally and psychologically
balanced.
2. For God to forgive your sins
Have you ever imagined why so many
people cannot incur God's blessings? It is
because they fail to forgive others. The
blessings of God cannot be upon those who
nurseunforgiveness. These kind of
blessings are for those who are at peace
with one another such as undeserved favor,
mercy or joy.
3. For your prayers to be answered
Some people will experience closed heaven
(a situation where it seems as if their
prayers bounces back) when they pray or
seem as if God is deaf to their prayers, this
is because they fail to forgive those who
have offended them. No amount of prayers
offered would be answered if you keep that
person in the prison cage of your mind.
4. For you to be free from any impending
health challenges
According to CNN reports on unforgiveness,
studies have shown that there's a tendency
to develop high blood pressure when we
feel negative towards other as a result of
unforgiveness. It also has its effect on one's
mental health. You wouldn't want to
experience this because of what someone
must have done to you.
Forgiveness can still be tolerated regardless
of the harm or degree that has been done
to you. Whether you were cheated, abused,
jilted, publicly disgraced or manipulated. All
you need do is to forgive whosoever that
has hurt you so that you will not live in the
past or become embittered. Who has
offended you: your mom, dad, spouse,
friend or other people? Embrace
forgiveness as an option. It will only make
you a better person in life and not worse.
Is it still possible to forgive those who
caused you pain or are there any offense
that cannot be forgiven? Kindly, share your
views below.

Health and Welfare / 15 Signs That You Are Emotionally Intelligent
« on: January 31, 2014, 07:05:19 pm »
Emotionally intelligent people aren’t ruled by
their thoughts; they are the master of them.
Discover your emotional strength today with
these 15 signs that you are emotionally
intelligent.
1.You’re Fascinated by What Makes
People Tick.
Emotionally intelligent people are fascinated
by human behavior. They notice things like
body language, dialect, and personal tics.
Being a people-watcher helps them find
clues about what makes each individual
special.
2. You’re an Enthusiastic Leader Who
Walks the Walk.
Emotionally intelligent people know it’s silly
to talk the talk if they’re not willing to walk
the walk. Instead of leading behind by
delivering commands, they lead from the
front by setting an example.
3.You’re Aware of Your Strengths and
Weaknesses.
Emotionally intelligent people know you’re
not as weak as your weakest link; you are as
strong as your strongest link. They use their
greatest strengths as much as possible to
make their weaknesses a moot point.
4.You’re at Peace with the Past.
Emotionally intelligent people don’t have
time for regret. They drop their baggage
and move forward into the present, because
that’s where progress happens.
5.You’re Not Freaked Out About the
Future.
Emotionally intelligent people don’t obsess
with future events outside of their control.
They are comfortable living in a world that
doesn’t come with a crystal ball, because life
is meant to be an exciting adventure (not a
scripted routine).
6. You’re Tuned in to the Present Moment.
Emotionally intelligent people don’t merely
“get through” their hectic day. Instead, they
actively experience the nuances of every
single moment of every single day.
7.You’re a Skilled Active Listener.
Emotionally intelligent people know that
“hearing” and “listening” are two different
things. They re-phrase a person’s
statements in the form of a question to
make sure nothing got lost in translation.
8.You’re Capable of Figuring Out Why
You’re Upset.
Emotionally intelligent people don’t let a
chorus of negative self-talk take over their
brain. They are detectives who explore their
environment, searching for clues that
revealwhythey feel the way they do and
(most importantly)whatthey can do to make
it better.
9.You’re Comfortable Talking with Friends
and Strangers.
Emotionally intelligent people never met a
stranger they didn’t like. They don’t care
about a person’s age, race, religion, gender,
intimate orientation, or political affiliation;
they love everybody equally, because we’re
all human here.
10. You’re Ethical in Business and
Relationships.
Emotionally intelligent people follow their
moral compass in business and life. Their
values might differ from person to person,
but high standards govern their behavior.
11.You’re Eager to Help People.
Emotionally intelligent people don’t need a
reason to help others. They help elderly
women with their grocery bags; offer to
wash the dishes if a friend or partner
prepared dinner; and hold doors open, not
just for ladies, but gentlemen as well.
12. You’re Able to Read People Like a
Book.
Emotionally intelligent people can translate
the meaning of gestures, expressions, and
body-language. They know you can’t
depend on language alone, because a
person’s physical presence is often at odds
with the words they express.
13. You’re Firm in Your Desire to Achieve.
Emotionally intelligent people strive for
success, no matter how long it takes. They
are willing to deal with setbacks and
address shortcomings, because you don’t
lose until you quit.
14.You’re Motivated for Reasons Inside of
Yourself.
Emotionally intelligent people build
motivation that lasts. They detach
themselves from the end result and focus on
enjoying the process. Personal development
doesn’t happen at the moment of
achievement, but during the growth process
that leads to success.
15.You’re Willing to Say “No” When You
Have To.
Emotionally intelligent people know there
can be too much of a good thing. They
know they can’t do everything, so they set
priorities determined by what is most
important to them.

The Rivers State House of Assembly has
approved N100 billion bond for the smooth
running of the State Government.
Speaker of the House, Otelemaba Dan
Amachree pronounced the approval of the
bond after a heated debate on the bond by
the state lawmakers during the plenary at
the Government House auditorium Port
Harcourt.
Amachree said the bond will enable the
state government complete all on-going
projects in the state.
“I am of the opinion that we should give the
Governor’s application a speedy approval
since we have already passed the
appropriation into law”, he said.
Earlier, some of the lawmakers had argued
against the bill noting that the
commissioner of finance should be invited
for explanation on the last bond approved
by the house.
Member representing Etche Constituency
and the Committee Chairman on Judiciary,
Hon. Golden Chioma said the people of the
state need to understand status of the bond
that was taken last year by the executive.
Chioma insisted that the state Commissioner
for Finance should appear before the House
of Assembly to explain how the 2013 bond
was used.
According to him, “Would it not be pertinent
to invite the commissioner of finance to
explain in details some other issues not
contained in this letter.
“For obvious reasons, I would want us to
look at it this way. We also want to know
what they did with the loan they took last
year”.
The House also committed two bill including
the bill for waste management and the bill
on tax harmonization to committee stage
and deferred debate on the bill on
customary court.
Twenty one members of the House,
including the speaker attended the sitting.
The Evans Bipi led anti Amachi lawmakers
were not present at the sitting.
In the meantime, the House adjourned
further sitting sine die.

A 14-year-old pupil of Government Science
College at Iyin-Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun
Local Government Area of Ekiti State has
been found a day after she was alleged to
have been missing. Sources said the girl,
who is still recovering, was discovered
unconscious and was taken to the Federal
Medical Centre in Ido-Ekiti for treatment. The
incident occurred when the girl told her
school mates during a prep session at about
8.30pm on Tuesday that she was not feeling
well and therefore went back to the
dormitory to rest. Before she got to the
dormitory, she allegedly got missing and all
efforts to locate her by her school mates,
housemaster and other teachers proved
abortive. The sources, however, said that the
girl, who they claimed might have been
kidnapped for ritual purpose, was
discovered unconscious and naked the
following morning (yesterday) at the
premises of a private school in the
community. The Ekiti State Commissioner for
Education, Mr. Kehinde Ojo, confirmed to
journalists on telephone yesterday that the
girl was discovered at a remote section of
Femi Balogun Nursery and Primary School at
Iyin-Ekiti at the early hours of yesterday by a
retired principal and the school proprietor.
Ojo said that the proprietor had reported
the case at Iyin Police Station before the girl,
who was already in an unconscious state
and stripped naked, was taken to the
Federal Medical Centre in Ido-Ekiti for
treatment. The commissioner said:
“Preliminary medical examination had
shown that the girl was neither **** nor
hit by hard object. Though she has regained
consciousness and responding well to
treatment”. The police spokesman, Mr. Victor
Babayemi, said nobody had been arrested in
connection with the circumstances
surrounding the situation. Babayemi said:
“We want to make sure that the girl is on
her feet to give us enough information to
help our investigations before we start
saying what actually happened. It can be
ritual or kidnap attack. We are not leaving
anything to chance because it can be
anything”.

Everybody wants to be rich in life but only
few can do what it takes to get rich in a
legal and reasonable way. As important as
going into a relationship is, it is also very
important to achieve a certain level of
financial independence before you enter
into it.
Financial issues have been one important
factor in relationships. It has ruined
marriages and break relationships either
because it is in short supply or one party
lacks enough of it. Money defines romance,
it commands respect and spice up a
relationship when it is in proper supply. No
wonder it answers all things regarding life
but cannot buy somethings such as love,
trust and integrity. Yet, it plays an important
role in any relationship.
Are you planning to go into marriage or any
relationship very soon, try as much as you
can to be financially independent while
single. When I mean independence, it refers
to being able to
cater for your financial needs without
having to depend on anybody. I have seen
some relationship where the wife cannot
do anything except when her husband
comes, vice versa. Yes, it happens! Don't
dream of having to marry a rich man/
woman, be the rich man/woman that will
be dreamt of being married.
Issues will be minimal when money is part
of the driving force in a relationship. On the
contrary, if it is limited and one party have
to foot the bills, pay the rent, buy petty
things that is needed at home or pay the
children's school fees; more issues will be
generated. It will create more pressure on
the provider and make the dependent
partner less confident and financially
unsecured. Ladies, please, never go into a
relationship if you don't have a source of
income or a degree that is profitable.
To achieve financial independence, you
must ensure to do these:
*READ
An important way of becoming financially
stable is when you acquire profitable
knowledge or glean ideas that you can
convert to make money. Read good books
that are informative rather than junks or
materials that doesn't add value to your life.
Nobody can take away what you know
from you if it puts money on your table. So
acquire knowledge. Buy books that can
stimulate your business sense.
*THINK
There are lots of people who read books
but only few think about what is read. Great
thinkers are great inventors. Spend time to
think of how you can do it better than its
been done. Ideas don't come from reading
but it comes through thinking. Think of the
things that you can do that has not been
implemented in your environment. Ideas
will only flow when you take time to read.
Think on a new problem and not on
someone's solution. This will make you an
imitator. Thinking will generate you the
ideas that can make you financially stable.
*DON'T BE LAZY
If wishes were horse, beggars would be the
richest.A lazy man/woman will only wish
they have money or dream about a wealthy
life, but they will be lazy to implement their
desires. Laziness destroys a person than it
would help them. It makes you
procrastinate or fail to achieve your pursuit.
Do something with your ideas, talent or the
trade you learn. There is no how you'd be
rich if you cannot work. Being married to a
rich person does not determine you
comfort or independence. Work! It is what
you earn personally that you can be proud
of.
*LEARN A TRADE
God has never created an empty-brained
human. It is lack of use that makes the brain
dull. While waiting to be married, learn a
trade. There are lots of things to learn that
can fetch you an income when you're good
at it. Bead making, fashion design, cleaning
services, graphic design and other menial
jobs in your environ are things you can
learn to irk a living. With several populations
in the world, you have your potential
customers in your community that will
patronize your services. Not everybody will
have a white collar job, so learn something.
*START A BUSINESS
Are you penniless? Start small. A great
house is not built from the roof to the
foundation. No great business ever started
big. Every successful entrepreneurs have a
story to tell about their small beginnings. A
small business can yield an enough capital
to start a big business.
You have to leave your comfort zone before
you can rise above dependence. Instead of
wasting your time on frivolity, buy good
books and read. No sweat, no gain.
Business ideas are not sold in books but
they are birth out through thinking. If by
chance you are short of ideas, learn a trade
and be good at it. Most  government will not
help theircitizens. They cannot give you the
extra income you need. Rather than wait for
unclesor aunt; start a business. There are
lots of business ideas that has not be
known. Think and ideas will flow.
One of the ways to enjoy your marriage or
relationship apart from other factors such
as love, respect and integrity is when you
have stable source of income. It might
necessarily not be big, but it is good to have
something to contribute into the
relationship. It gives you confidence, value
and respect. Read. Think. Don't be lazy.
Learn a trade or start a business. It is better
to be financially independent before you go
into marriage than to be dependent.

OWERRI — Palpable confusion reigned in
Owerri, yesterday, as a father tied his seven
children, including his triplet, to a wheel-
barrow and was heading to an unknown
destination before officials of Ministry of
Women Affairs and Social Development
intervened.
Vanguard investigations revealed that the
44-year-old man, Israel Dike, is a native of
Odenkume, Obowo Local Government Area
of Imo State, but resides in Ugwu Ekwema,
Egbu Road, Owerri.
The children’s hands were securely tied to a
wheelbarrow while the man was soliciting
for buyers for the children, saying he was
fed up with his dwindling economic
fortunes.
A staff of the ministry told Vanguard:
“Following a tip off, a high powered team
led by the Commissioner for Women Affairs,
Mrs. Nma Onyechere, quickly went and
rescued the children.”
Apart from disclosing that he planned selling
some of them with a view to enabling him
take proper care of others, Dike equally
lamented that Governor Rochas Okorocha
put him in the mess he has found himself
today.
“Owelle Okorocha is the cause of what I am
passing through today. He made me a
promise in the past and has failed to
redeem it till today,” Dike said.
Speaking to newsmen at the scene, the
commissioner described Dike as a
“depressed man, who is mentally
deranged.”
While urging Dike’s wife to go for family
planning, the commissioner equally
promised that government would carefully
ascertain the level of the man’s mental
problem.
Answering a question, Mrs. Onyechere said
the ministry would find a way of giving out
the children to foster parents with a view to
ensuring adequate care and their education.

About 250 million children globally are not
learning basic skills, even though half of
them have spent at least four years in
school, a UN report has said.
The independent Education for All Global
Monitoring Report entitled “Teaching and
Learning: Achieving Quality for All” put the
annual cost of this failure around 129 billion
dollars.
The report which was made available at the
UN Headquarters in New York on
Wednesday noted that less than 75 per cent
of primary school teachers were trained
according to national standards.
It also added that some 57 million children
were not in school at all.
The report said that some 125 million school
children around the world were unable to
read a single sentence, even after four years
of attendance, describing the situation as a
waste of 129 billion dollar a year.
It, however, called on governments to draft
the best teachers to teach the most
underprivileged if the goal of universal
education was ever to be reached.
“This learning crisis has costs not only for
the future ambitions of children, but also for
the current finances of government,” it
stressed.
The report proposed four strategies to
provide the best teachers to reach all
children with good quality education.
It also suggested that the selection of the
right teachers to reflect the diversity of
children and training teachers to support
the weakest learners from the earliest
grades.
Others are overcoming inequalities by
allocating the best teachers to the most
challenging parts of a country.
It also includes providing teachers with the
right mix of government incentives to
remain in the profession and ensure all
children are learning, regardless of their
circumstances.
“The policy changes have a cost. This is why
we need to see a dramatic shift in funding.
“Basic education is currently under funded
by 26 billion dollar a year while aid is
continuing to decline.
“At this stage, governments simply cannot
afford to reduce investment in education
nor should donors step back from their
funding promises.
“This calls for exploring new ways to fund
urgent needs,” the report quoted the
UNESCO Director-General, Irina Bokova, as
saying.
The report also said that the world would
miss the goal of full primary schooling for
children, both boys and girls, everywhere by
2015.
It explained that the second of the anti-
poverty Millennium Development Goals
adopted at the UN Millennium Summit in
2000 was imperative to make education
central to sustainable development agenda
for the decades after 2015.
“As we advance towards 2015 and set a
new agenda to follow, all governments must
invest in education as an accelerator of
inclusive development.
“This report’s evidence clearly shows that
education provides sustainability to
progress against all development goals.
“Educate mothers, and you empower
women and save children’s lives. Educate
communities, and you transform societies
and grow economies,” Bokova said.
The report noted that in 2011, around half
of young children had access to pre-primary
education, but that in sub-Saharan Africa the
share was only 18 per cent.
It said that the number of children out of
school was 57 million, adding that half of
whom lived in conflict-affected countries.
“In sub-Saharan Africa, only 23 per cent of
poor girls in rural areas were completing
primary education by the end of the decade.
“If recent trends in the region continue, the
richest boys will achieve universal primary
completion in 2021, but the poorest girls
will not catch up until 2086,” the report said.

Japanese police have arrested a
factory worker at a plant that
produced food laced with pesticide,
which led to hundreds of people being
poisoned.
_72142292_72142286
More than six million packages of frozen
food were recalled.
Maruha Nichiro Holdings announced
earlier this month it was recalling
products after some were found to
contain high levels of malathion.
The pesticide is used in farming,
gardening and for killing fleas.
Up to 2,800 people reported symptoms
after eating the products, which
included pizza and chicken nuggets,
manufactured at a factory in Gunma
prefecture, north of Tokyo.
Police say they arrested Toshiki Abe, 49,
a worker at the subsidiary of Maruha
where the tainted food was found, on
Saturday.
He is suspected of putting the pesticide
in frozen foods at Aqlifoods’s Oizumi
plant in Gunma on four occasions last
October.
Mr Abe has denied the charges, police
say.
Maruha, which has received hundreds of
thousands of phone complaints, issued
public apologies in full-page ads in
newspapers and warn people not to eat
any of the possibly tainted food.

THERE was palpable tension in Port Harcourt,
Rivers State, on Sunday, as the state police
command confirmed the arrest of 320 Boko
Haram suspects.
Though details were still sketchy as of the
time of filing this report, Nigerian Tribune
gathered that the suspects were arrested
from a convoy of 17 commuter buses, all
coming from Jigawa State.
However, sources at the State Criminal
Investigation Department (SCID) confirmed
that the arrest was made after a tip-off.
According to the sources, the suspects,
arrested in the convoy led by one Bala Marto
Danbam, were all travelling in buses
belonging to a transportation company
owned by a former Inspector General of
Police.
“The arrest started from about 1.00 a.m till
about 7.00 a.m at different points; some
were arrested as they were entering the
state boundary, while others were arrested
from places like Mile One and other parts of
Port Harcourt.
“Three hundred and twenty of them, men
and women, were arrested and the manner
of the travelling was deemed suspicious; so
many people in those buses and at that time
of the day was suspicious,” the source said.
When reached for comments, the state
Police Commissioner, Joseph Mbu, confirmed
the development, adding that the state
command would not comment on the
matter yet for security reason.
“It’s a top security issue. I don’t know how
you got the information and I won’t ask you,
but there cannot be any comment now from
the Rivers police command until we finish
the investigation. I will make no comment,”
Mbu said.
It could not be confirmed if arms or other
incriminating objects had been discovered
with the suspects, but they, alongside the
buses that conveyed them, were inside the
premises of the police department.
Nigerian Tribune observed that security had
been tightened around the SCID on Sunday
evening, as movements into and around the
area were under close watch.
Journalists who tried to access the premises
were strictly barred by policemen on guard.
It was also observed that the areas close to
the SCID premises were thronged by people
believed to be friends and kinsmen of the
arrested suspects.
Meanwhile, the Northern States’ Governors
Forum has charged security agencies to end
the killing of defenseless citizens, especially
in the North-East region, where suspected
Boko Haram members have continued their
bloody campaign since 2009.
Chairman of the forum and Niger State
governor, Dr Babangida Aliyu, in Minna, on
Sunday, noted that members of the forum
were concerned at the renewed attacks,
which had killed 18 persons around
Maiduguri.
“The forum is particularly alarmed that the
shooting to death of 18 persons in Njaba,
Mude, Kwaljiri and Kaya villages in Borno
followed the same pattern, as previous
midnight attacks on towns and villages in
the region,” he told the News Agency of
Nigeria (NAN).
According to a statement signed by his Chief
Press Secretary, Danladi Ndayebo, Aliyu
described the fresh attacks as “horrendous,
callous and inhuman.”
He also called on security agencies to halt
the incessant clashes between Fulani
herdsmen and farmers in the region.

Health and Welfare / Falling In Love - 5 Significant Things You Must Do
« on: January 27, 2014, 06:44:49 pm »
Martha was
very high on expectations in her first
relationship with Tom. She was full of hope
with her new found love thinking it would
be a happy one. She had always dreamt of a
relationship where things will go all rosy.
But unfortunately for her, the relationship
never last the way she planned just because
she failed to map out some things before
she started the relationship. She started the
relationship out of deep feelings. Are
feelings enough for love?
Can you recall the kind of feelings that
welled up inside you when you first had
your first relationship? Exciting, I guess?
Some of us was excited when we had our
first relationship but only few had a long
lasting one. The kind of joy you experienced
cannot equate the experience you had on
your graduation day, when you first bought
your new car or when you traveled out of
the country. It is a memory that lives with
you for the rest of your life. However, the
happiness you felt is not as important as
the
outcome of the relationship in years to
come and how it affected your life.
Quite a lot of us must have had lots of
relationship. Some had one, it leads to
marriage; some failed and enter into
another. Some were heart broken while
some had indescribable joy because of
whom they fell in love it and the things they
did. In the course of going into another
relationship, some kept repeating the same
mistakes they had in their first relationship
in the other ones because they allowed
their feelings to drive them beyond what to
do.
Falling in love is the best thing that can ever
happen to you in life. While you are single,
you have lots of time to improve yourself
before you start the relationship. Hence,
before you start your relationship, let me
point out the things you must endeavor to
do because it involves adequate
preparation and lots of responsibility.
FIND THE RIGHT PERSON
Yes, does that sound right? It is very
important towards having a long lasting
relationship unless you want to make casual
friendship.
Not every guy that approached you or a lady
youapproached becomes the right person.
In my last article on 4 Peculiar Ways of
Expressing True Love, I stated that there is a
special person in your life that will truly love
you. Some will come because of what they
see in you (appearance) or for what they
want from you  (sex). Take time to find who
becomes right for you. You can never love
the wrong person and expect bliss in your
relationship.
You need not to be attracted to their
wealth, beauty, love or their show of
affection but be attracted to their innate
potentials that lasts beyond these
ephemeral substance. Do not just hold onto
that person because they have what you
want. There is someone that will love you
for who you are and accept your past.

Your Right Marital Partner
BE EMOTIONALLY MATURED
Relationship requires lot of emotional
issues. Are you emotionally independent?
Can you manage your moods or feelings
wisely without snapping off? Is your
happiness determined by others or it
comes from within? You must be
emotionally stable before you go into a
relationship. There is always a need to allow
space or freedom for the one you love. You
must not be an emotional pest, but be able
to take responsibility for your actions
emotionally. Emotional stability is one of the
necessary requirements of falling in love.
* Related article: 5 Indisputable Signs That
You Are Emotionally Immature
LOVE YOURSELF
Some personality disorder is caused by self
esteem. If you cannot love yourself, you'll
suffer from low self esteem and this will
make you defensive, suffer anxiety, feel
unlovable and worried over irrelevant
issues in the relationship. Many people do
not love theirself enough to respect and
believe in their abilities. They feel their
partner would complement that part of
them. You need to raise your self esteem so
that nobody determines your feelings or
mood. Don't create a negative impression
about yourself. Be positive. Believe in your
potentials and love yourself more, I don't
mean that you'd be selfish.
KNOW WHAT YOU WANT
Many people go into relationships without
knowing what they want from what they
don't want. You cannot reject what you
don't want if you don't know what you
want. This is the origin of abuse. He/she will
use you for what they want if you cannot
define yours. Do you want to be abused,
respected, valued or victimized? Determine
it before the start of the relationship. Do
you want respect or value? Then you must
define it before you allow the joy of falling
in love becloud your mind and
communicate it.
DEFINE THE RELATIONSHIP
You cannot describe what you don't
understand. Your new relationship must be
defined as to knowing its purpose. Is it
casual, friendship or a life long
commitment? All these must be put on
check before you fall in love. The kind of
relationship you keep would determines the
outcome of your lovelife. Nobody will suffer
hurt when the purpose of the relationship
is known.
We all fall in love at one point of our life or
the other but the beauty of it is defined by
who we fell in love with. There is a need to
find someone that is suitable for you. There
is no perfect being but mutual
understanding and love makes them
perfect. However, relationship is not for
boys/girls. Boys fight and girls cry. Be
emotionally matured before you go into any
relationship. Never expect the relationship
to make you happy, you must first love
yourself, be happy and be proud of who
you are. Lastly, define the relationship from
the start. What you don't define you cannot
describe.

Latest Gists In Town / Finally Back! Dana Air resumes flight operations
« on: January 27, 2014, 06:41:39 pm »
Dana Air on Monday resumed flight
operations after a successful operational
audit the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority
carried out on the airline.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that
Dana Air’s aircraft with registration number
5N-JOY departed the domestic terminal two
of the Murtala Muhammed Airport by 2:30
p.m.
Addressing aviation correspondents, the
Chief Operating Officer of the airline,Mr Yvan
Drewinsky, commended the NCAA under its
Director-General, Capt. Fola Akinkuotu, for
the successful completion of the technical
audit.
Drewinsky assured the NCAA management
that Dana would comply with all the
standard regulations.
“I am happy that Capt. Akinkuotu wrote us
to say we can recommence flight operations
after the audit had been successfully
completed by NCAA inspectors and its
foreign partners,” he said.
He said that the airline had organised series
of training for its personnel to keep them
up-to-date in the discharge of their duties.
“Some pilots are still in South Africa
undergoing training in simulator, since
anybody who has not flown for a while
needs refresher training before he or she
can come back to the cockpit of the
aircraft,” he said.
Drewinsky said that Dana had signed a
contract for the supply of a Boeing 737-500
series which would arrive before the end of
the month.
“The second one will arrive mid-February;
this is part of effort to increase our fleet,” he
said.
He expressed happiness that the airline was
back and assured passengers of safety
while on board its aircraft.
NAN reports that the NCAA, in October 2013,
suspended the airline to allow it carry out
what it called an “operational audit”.
In December 2013, the aviation regulatory
body announced that it had completed the
audit and would carry out the same exercise
on other airlines.

Thieves broke into a small church in the
mountains, east of Rome over the weekend
and stole a reliquary with the blood of late
Pope John Paul II.
Some of John Paul’s blood was saved after
an assassination attempt that nearly killed
him in St. Peter’s Square on May 13, 1981.
Franca Corrieri, custodian of the reliquary,
said she had discovered a broken window
early on Sunday morning and called the
police.
She said when they entered the small stone
church they found the gold reliquary and a
crucifix missing.
Corrieri said the incident felt more like a
“kidnapping’’ than a theft as she could not
say if the intention of the thieves may have
been to seek a ransom for the blood.
She said apart from the reliquary and a
crucifix, nothing else was stolen from the
isolated church, even though the thieves
would probably have had time to take other
objects during the night-time theft.
Reuters reports that John Paul, who died in
2005, loved the mountains in the Abruzzo
region east of Rome and sometimes slip
away from the Vatican secretly to hike or ski
there and pray in the church.
It said that the Polish-born John Paul, who
reigned for 27 years, was due to be made a
saint of the Roman Catholic Church in May,
meaning the relic would become more
noteworthy and valuable.
In 2011, John Paul’s former private
secretary, Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz, gave
the local Abruzzo community some of the
late pontiff’s blood as a token of the love he
had felt for the mountainous area.
It was put in a gold and glass circular case
and kept in a niche of the small mountain
church of San Pietro della Ienca, near the city
of L’Aquila

I've been complaining for sometime now
about storage space always running out
despite not installing any apps or updating
any app. I would go to bed with over
100mb of storage space available and then
wake up to find that terrible icon above my
A+ that "storage space is running out". I had
no idea what was eating all the memory. I
went as far as uninstalling some of my
favourite apps just to create more space but
weeks later I would still end up with low
internal storage for apps. At a point, I
started suspecting some evil spirits had
started taking up space in my phone and
squatting there without paying rent... (you
know our naija mentality na ). After months
of tedious searching sha, I finally saw this
blog online with a pretty simple solution to
the problem.
Now let's start... Please pay attention and
read carefully before proceeding... I may not
be chanced to explain to anyone after
posting this. Got a lot to do at my desk o...
Ehn Ehn!
Now, you must be ROOTED in order to view
the secret "evil" files taking up space
Public Disclaimer: I shall not be held
responsible for any damaged/bricked
phones after proceeding with the process
below. Reading this post means you have
agreed to handle your devices at your own
will.
Here we go:
The files in "Internal Storage" cannot be
browsed using a normal file browser
because inherently Android states that files
in this storage be and remain "private".
There must be something inside that is
roughly taking up all that space...
1. Root your phone. (Kindly search other
threads for instructions on how to root your
phone. I hearframaroot is the trending
root app for most Android phones at the
moment)
2. Download theRoot Browser app from
here or the google playstore: https://
play.google.com/store/apps/details?
id=com.jrummy.root.browserfree&hl=en
3. Reboot your phone
4. Open the newly installed Root Browser
app, a pop up might come stating if you
want to give the app root permission. Don't
waste time in Granting it.
5. Locate or scroll to /data/ and delete the
folder "log" (on my A+, the folder was
labelled as "log_other_mode"
- Note that if you are not sure of which
folder contains the log files meant for
deletion, kindly copy the folder and paste it
in another destination where you can easily
find it without hassle. So it will act as a
backup in case you delete the wrong files
and mess up your phone unintentionally.
6. Now go and check the storage you have
left. (It should be as free as the 3rd Mainland
Bridge during an early morning sanitation)
One of the screenshots below shows the
contents of the 'log' folder and then later my
storage space after deleting the log files.

French President Francois Hollande has split
with his longstanding partner Valerie
Trierweiler after his affair with a young
actress, in an exclusive declaration to AFP.
Saying he was speaking as a private
individual, Hollande said: “I wish to make it
known that I have ended my partnership
with ValerieTrierweiler.”
Trierweiler, 48, remains holed up in a
presidential residence in Versailles outside
Paris after leaving hospital last Saturday,
where she was treated for a bout of
“tiredness” brought on by press revelations
of Hollande’s affair with actress Julie Gayet,
41.
Trierweiler is due to fly to Mumbai on
Sunday for a charity trip organised by
French relief organisation Action Against
Hunger, in what will be her first public
appearance since the scandal broke.
Hollande, 59, announced his separation
from Segolene Royal, a senior member of his
Socialist party and a presidential candidate
in 2007, just after she lost theelection to
Nicolas Sarkozy.
Trierweiler is not married to Hollande but
assumed the role of First Lady at official
functions after Hollande’s election in 2012.

Scores of residents rushed to Community
Grammar School Amuloko in Ona Ara local
government area of Ibadan, capital of Oyo
state, yesterday to see a mysterious
inscription of the name of Allah on the bark
of a tree in the premises of the school.
The inscription, which had been noticed
around 1 pm last Friday by a JSS 1 student,
Abdulsalam Selimot, attracted many from
the community and beyond.
Many turned the tree to an object of
worship and started making supplications
under it.
The Quranic lettering, which an Agriculture
teacher in the Amuloko School, Mr. Atanda
Abdulrauf Olayiwola, interpreted to mean
“Mohammadu Ra Sululah” first appeared
faintly before it got bolder few hours later
to the consternation of many .
Selimot, who spoke in her mother’s rented
apartment at Oloya area of Amuloko, said:
“My Dad said he was coming to see me and
so I stood under the tree in front of our
school.
“Suddenly, a leaf fell on my head and when I
picked it, I saw certain writing on it. I
looked up to see where it came from and
discovered it fell from the tree.
“There and then I saw an Arabic lettering
appearing, being written on the tree. I
could not read it well but I noticed that it
was a Quranic Language similar to the
spellings we were being taught at our
Quranic centre.
“I then went to inform some Alfas who
came for GNLD training close by. They saw it
and asked for my name. They asked me to
go and call my parents, and I went to call
my mother,” she recollected.
She said that the Alfas started rubbing their
palms on the tree, shouting the name of
Allah, a development that attracted others.
Many people besieged the area to take
pictures of the inscription with their mobile
handsets.
Others videoed it.
Old and young were seen plucking the
leaves of the tree, cutting its branches,
while some were rubbing their palms on it.
Some were even rubbing sachets of pure
water on the bark of the tree in the belief
that it would turn holy water for them to
drink.

The story you’re about to read is an
encounter with a homosexual mistress as
reported and detailed bySunnewsonline.
Six years ago, Musa Ali (not his real name)
was linked up with a rich businessman in
Yola, who ‘initiated’ him into gay sex. Ali was
told that being gay would make him bold
and feared. Of course, he was also told that
he would make a huge load of money. Now
36, Ali is somewhat filled with regrets and
wishing it were possible to turn back the
hands of the clock.
Sitting in the serene evening of last
Thursday in Bankin Kogi at the bank of River
Benue in Yola after a Herculean arrangement
to get him to talk, he shared his story with
our correspondent. Ali revealed that the rich
and the powerful, both in business and
politics hit the hay with him. Excerpts…
How did you become a gay?
A woman my friend introduced to me lured
me into it. The woman linked me up with
some men in business and in politics. The
first man I was introduced to told me that
having anal sex would fetch me good
fortune and I would be bold to challenge
anybody no matter his social status. He said
that if I wanted to be rich and be likable, I
should join the club of gays. He said that I
would meet influential people and they
would be attracted to me. Also, I was told
that if I ask for anything, without hesitation,
my demands would be obliged. He said
whenever I speak, I would be feared and my
wish would obeyed. That was six years ago.
He made love to me during political
campaigns and gave me N150,000. I bought
a parcel of land with that money but later
sold it.
How old are you now and what has been
your experience?
I am 36 years old. As I said earlier, I have
been in this business (anal sex act) for six
years. But all that I was promised did not
come to pass. The business has robbed me
of my senses and personality. Big men
patronize us, but the business is not worth
it. The same big men that patronize and give
us big money, somehow through diabolical
means, snatch the same money from us.
They make love to us and give us big money
but we never really benefit from the money.
I have often regretted being a gay but I
cannot help it. I sometimes ask myself what
are the benefits derivable from this act?
Nothing at all! My earlier plan was that I
would work as a gay, get huge amount of
money and settle down with a beautiful
wife. But I was unable to use the proceeds
to do anything worthwhile or live a
comfortable life. But that has not come to be
after all. I have gained over N9 million as
proceeds from this act but cannot account
for it. The wealthy in the society only use us
as mistresses and abandon us at the end.
Although some of us are being courted by
powerful men in the society, but they
discard us like worthless rag in the long run
after satisfying themselves.
You said you were told that homosexual
sex would make you bold. Are you now
bold and feared by people?
Yes, for the first two years, I was feared and
respected. But I do not enjoy such power
again.
Why is that so?
Honestly, I don’t know why.
Before you were introduced to the
homosexual act, did you have affection for
women?
Yes.
Do you still have affection for women
now?
No. I used to have affection for women or
young girls, but I no longer have such
feelings and this is disturbing me seriously.
It is disturbing because no matter how
beautiful a girl is I cannot have feeling of
love for her nor make love advances to her.
She won’t be appealing to me. I regret
becoming a homosexual. I found myself in a
precarious situation because my colleagues
might kill me if I dared to leave the business.
We are expected to stick to the covenant we
have all entered into.
Do you have a permanent partner?
I do not have a permanent partner because
most of the people I have met did not want
to maintain a permanent relationship, which
would entail paying for my domestic needs
and being responsible for my medical bills
on certain ailments I could contract as a
result of our participation in this gay sex. In
fact, I was betrothed to a man in Yobe who
eventually abandoned me. After that
experience I decided not to have a
permanent partner.
Who are you regular with?
Please skip that I cannot tell you. This is
because most of our clients are big men in
the society and mentioning their names will
put my life in danger. My clients are
businessmen and politicians. I don’t want to
mention their names.
Please in confidence tell me about some
of them.
Forget that. Please skip this question. If you
don’t skip that I will not talk with you again.
(Then he beckoned on the person that
facilitated the interview and said to him, go
with your friend. I can no longer discuss
with him.)
Would you not regard what you are
engaged in as ****?
(Getting angry now and frantically calling the
person that facilitated the interview)
frantically)
Tell your friend to leave me alone. What I do
is not ****. Call it whatever name you
like, it is a business as I am not here as a
prostitute. It is people like you who
embarrass and ridicule us, calling us all sorts
of names and giving this business a bad
name.
(He later calmed down and agreed to
continue with the discussion after much
pleading.)
Where are your clients?
They are from across the country but mostly
in Kano, Yobe, Maiduguri, Bauchi, Gombe
and Sokoto.
You said earlier your first client gave you
N150,000. Is that what you get paid every
time?
Each client at the local level in Yola pays
between N10,000 and N12,000 per sex
session. We don’t charge clients that are
wealthy. We don’t charge the politicians
because they are always ready to pay more
than we ordinarily would have charged. A
politician or a businessman can pay from
N150,000 to N200,000 per sex session. The
elite know what they derive from us
sexually, which is not known to us.
Do you know that government has
banned this your business? Government
has enacted a law forbidding same-sex
marriage and relationships?
I learnt so, but I am not sure.
Do you have health-related issue as a
result of this business?
I don’t know until I see a doctor. We have,
however, lost two persons who died as a
result of the gay practice.
How did they die, please tell me?
They just took ill. They had health problems
and they didn’t survive.
Are you going to stop the practice?
I actually want to stop, but I cannot stop
because I will be killed by my colleagues for
not complying with the covenant entered
into not to disclose this activity to anybody.
Probably, I have been hypnotized. I cannot
tell.
Do you have an association?
No, we don’t have here, but the elite in some
states may have association. We do not do
this business in the open, so we cannot
have an association.
Do your family members know you are
gay?
My mother got to know about what I’m
doing two years ago, but my father died 12
years ago before I started this business. It is
only my mother that knows this but I have
kept on denying. My mother was said to
have cursed me after learning about this,
but I don’t know if the curse is working on
me or not.
Do you do the act on a bed or mattress?
That is not your business.
What religion do you practice?
That is not your business, please.
How will you feel if you are caught in this
act?
I will not allow myself to be caught unless
someone reports me to Civil Defence or the
police.
