Google announced Tuesday it was bringing Android, the dominant platform for smartphones, to wearable devices. The move allows developers to create apps for smartwatches, the first phase of the Android Wear platform. “We’ve barely scratched the surface of what’s possible with mobile technology,” said Google Android chief Sundar Pichai in a blog post. “That’s why we’re so excited about wearables — they understand the context of the world around you, and you can interact with them simply and efficiently, with just a glance or a spoken word.” A smart wristwatch: android ready A smart wristwatch: android ready The news comes amid a surge of interest in wearable electronics which can connect with smartphones, and after the launch of several smart watches by large and small manufacturers. The new Android Wear system will make it easier to develop apps specifically for a watch or other wearable device. “Today we’re announcing Android Wear, a project that extends Android to wearables,” Pichai said. “And we’re starting with the most familiar wearable — watches.” He said the platform would help facilitate apps that provide news and information, allow chats, monitor health and fitness or help in shopping. The system will enable voice-controlled apps and connect to a smartphone or other device. While Google itself has not launched a smartwatch, some reports say one is in the works, possibly in partnership with South Korean manufacturer LG. “Because Android for wearables works with Android’s rich notification system, many apps will already work well,” Pichai said. “We’re also already working with several consumer electronics manufacturers, including Asus, HTC, LG, Motorola and Samsung; chip makers Broadcom, Imagination, Intel, Mediatek and Qualcomm; and fashion brands like the Fossil Group to bring you watches powered by Android Wear later this year.” Global smartwatch sales are expected grow this year by more than 500 percent from 1.9 million units in 2013, and to expand further in coming years, according to the market researcher Strategic Analytics.

When US Marshals approached James Robert Jones on a South Florida street Thursday morning last week, the man convicted of murdering a fellow Army private 40 years ago did not try to fight or flee, but surrendered peacefully, and will soon return to a maximum security prison, 37 years after he escaped. The former Army private was convicted of murder in 1974, while stationed at New Jersey's Ft. Dix, and ordered to carry out his 23 year sentence at the US Disciplinary Barracks on Ft. Leavenworth. In 1977 Jones escaped from the facility, the US Military's only maximum security prison, where imposing walls and towers earned it the nickname the "Castle." He spent the next 37 years on the lam. Barry Golden, a senior inspector with the US Marshals Service in Miami, which coordinated the investigation that led to Jones arrest, described his initial escape nearly four decades ago as "very elaborate." In January, Army investigators, believing Jones to now be living in Florida, contacted Golden's office for assistance. Marshals ran a prison photo of Jones through a database, and it matched closely with the photo on a Florida driver’s license first issued in 1981. Marshals began observing the man they thought to be Jones, now living under the false name Bruce Keith, and on Thursday morning, arrested him outside his work location in nearby Pompano Beach. According to Golden, Jones had been living a complete new life in Florida. He had "significant others,"Golden told 41 Action News, declining to go into detail, and told investigators he was only one year from retirement. Jones will soon be extradited back to Kansas to resume his sentence, Golden said, and will likely far additional charges related to his escape. *Choi, this man would have been free by now oooh...ah ah. Anywayshe is going into retirement in jail.....these investigators never give up sha

An Ogun State Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Owode Egba, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, yesterday, remanded a Pastor, Samuel Daniel in prison for using a machete on his wife. Police used lasers to track the path of the bullets that Oscar Pistorius fired through a door, killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, a ballistics expert testified Tuesday. Then they checked his height with and without his prosthetic legs, Police Capt. Christian Mangena said. He was on the verge of revealing his conclusions when time ran out and court adjourned for the day. He had time to say that the height of the four bullet holes in the door ranged from 93.5 cm to 104.3 cm above the floor. Without his prosthetic legs on, the double amputee runner’s elbow height is 96 cm, Mangena said as the 12th day of the Pistorius murder trial came to an end. The runner maintains that he was not wearing his prosthetics when he killed Steenkamp, and after suggesting at his bail hearing last year that he was wearing them, the prosecution conceded last week that he was not. The one-time South African national hero admits that he killed Steenkamp on February 14, 2013, but pleaded not guilty to murder, saying the killing was a terrible mistake. He thought she was an intruder in his house in the middle of the night, and mistakenly believed he was defending himself, he maintains. That he was not wearing his prosthetics is a vital part of his defense. He argues he was justified in shooting through a toilet room door because he is particularly vulnerable when he is on the stumps of his legs.

A fleet of tiny satellites released from the International Space Station could be a tool to help solve future aviation mysteries like the disappearance of Malaysian Airlines Flight 370, said retired astronaut Chris Hadfield, who commanded the space station for five months last year. Speaking to the media after giving a talk at the opening session of the TED2014 conference Monday, Hadfield said that the shoebox-sized satellites, once fully deployed, will cover the entire planet with frequently refreshed images at a resolution down to 4 meters and could have helped in a mystery such as the question of what happened to the Malaysian Airlines Boeing 777. Planet Labs, a San Francisco-based company, arranged for the first group of the satellites to be released from the space station last month. Hadfield said those satellites are in initial testing. Asked by CNN to comment, Planet Labs provided a statement by its co-founder and CEO, William Marshall, a former NASA scientist, who is due to speak later this week at TED: “Planet Labs just last month deployed a fleet of 28 satellites, Flock 1, from the International Space Station. This is the largest Earth imaging constellation in history. We are turning on each of the satellites and are now putting them into position. With this constellation, we will measure the planet on a more regular basis to enable various applications. One of those applications is disaster response, including natural and man-made disasters. Other applications range from monitoring deforestation to helping to improve agricultural yields to monitoring urban growth.” Another 100 such satellites are in the works, according to theFinancial Times. Hadfield said “tracking one thin aluminum tube” like the Boeing 777, in a place that is not heavily covered by radar is very hard. “Obviously something happened fast and deliberate, exactly what process, whether it was the crew themselves or someone forcing themselves in, we don’t know,” Hadfield said. He said he suspects that if the aircraft did crash, wreckage will eventually be found.

Chris Brown will be calling the Los Angeles County Twin Towers Correctional Facility home for the next month, as a judge ruled the bad boy singer will remain behind bars until at least April 23, RadarOnline.com is reporting. During the brief hearing Monday afternoon, Brown appearing in a jail issued orange jumpsuit, and his attorney, Mark Geragos asked the judge to allow his client to return to rehab, or be placed under house arrest. The judge declined, and ordered Brown to stay in jail until April 23. His criminal assault trial in Washington is scheduled to begin at that time. The District Attorney and Geragos were told to come up with a plan to make Brown available for those proceedings. On Friday, Brown was arrested and taken to jail after being kicked out of a rehab facility for allegedly leaving without permission, and refusing to take a drug test upon returning. “Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s deputies arrested Suspect Brown for the warrant at a location he was staying at in the city of Malibu,” a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. “Mr. Brown was cooperative when taken into custody,” the LASD stated. “He is being held without bail at the Inmate Reception Center of the Los Angeles County jail in downtown Los Angeles. The warrant was issued related to assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats crimes which occurred on February 7, 2009, in the City of Los Angeles. The incidents were investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department and prosecuted by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. The warrant was issued for a probation violation related to his conviction.” The troubled singer had been living at the rehab facility in Malibu since last year, after having his probation formally revoked in his Rihanna beating case, for being arrested in a separate assault incident in Washington D.C. During Brown’s last progress report hearing, the judge ordered that he stay in rehab, pending his next court appearance in Washington DC — and if he left the facility or was tossed out, the Grammy award-winning singer would be locked up. Brown was caught having an inappropriate relationship with a female staffer earlier this month. Brown, 24, was being treated for anger management issues and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Google is soon dropping Google Voice and rolling it into the Hangouts apps on both Android and iOS, according to arecent report. With certain Google Voice functionality already making its way onto the Hangouts apps and more recently SMS integration for Android, it looks as though Google will continue to expand its all-in-one communications app as expected. Google has been slowly integrating many of its communication services into Google Hangouts, before the Voice functionality overlaps and SMS integration, we saw both Messenger and Talk roll over as well. Like the report mentions, it is likely we will be seeing more of this type of consolidation from Google down the line as more and more of these types of services get rolled into a single application. Apple has also been bringing more of its communications services and features into a more unified location with respect to FaceTime and iMessages. Another interesting feature said to be a possibility here is that we could see the phone calling via VoIP functionality available on Gmail through the web slide over into Hangouts, according to the report. This could potentially allow users to have a fully enabled smartphone with just a data plan, likely something carriers will not take kindly to. At this point there is no official word on this, but we could see an announcement in the coming months just in time for Google I/O.

Google and Viacom have agreed to settle a copyright dispute out of court following a seven year battle. The two companies announced the resolution on Tuesday but failed to provide details according to a report fromRe/code. In early 2007, Viacom filed a lawsuit against Google in which they accused YouTube of rampant and intentional copyright infringement. The media company was seeking an injunction against the popular video sharing website and more than $1 billion in damages. At the time, it appeared the lawsuit could have serious implications on how video sharing took place online. But now after what has seemed like an eternity in Internet time, the core issues have by and large worked themselves out through various other rulings and the general consensus of how online sharing works. As a broad rule of thumb, digital services like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter aren’t responsible for copyright violations so long as they don’t encourage such violations and allow copyright holders to remove content they don’t want posted on such sites. In a joint statement on the matter, the pair said the settlement reflects the growing collaborative dialog between the two companies on important opportunities and they look forward to working more closely together in the future. Although terms of the settlement weren’t mentioned, sources familiar with the matter said no money traded hands. If that is indeed accurate, one can only wonder how much money was wasted in legal fees over the course of the lawsuit.

L'Wren Scott, a fashion model and designer who hasdated Mick Jagger since 2001, was reportedly found dead in an apartment in Chelsea this morning. A source familiar with the investigation says that Scott's body was found by her assistant at around 10 a.m. in a unit at 200 Eleventh Avenue. The Post and the Daily News are reporting that Scott, 47, was found hanging by a scarf from a doorknob. An NYPD spokesman said they could not confirm the identity of the victim because the family has not been notified. The spokesman added that the Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. Jagger's Twitter account posted this photo of the Rolling Stones singer in Australia earlier today. UPDATE: Mick Jagger 'completely shocked and devastated' by suicide of his girlfriend L'Wren Scott - spokesman. — Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) March 17, 2014 According to the Post, "Scott had sent the unidentified assistant a text message about 8:30 a.m. saying, 'Come by,' police sources said." Last month, Scott hadcancelled her London Fashion Week show, citing production delays and said the collection would be shown via social media. However, a Post source said, "L’Wren’s business just crashed." Scott, born Luann Bambrough, was adopted by a Mormon couple and raised in Utah. After photographer Bruce Weber spotted her6'3" frame (with 42" legs), she modeled for Chanel and Thierry Mugler in Paris. In the 1990s, she moved to LA and became a stylist for Vanity Fair and Rolling Stone, eventually designing her own clothes for shoots. In 2006, Scott started her own fashion label, emphasizing sexy, form-flattering clothes; she told the Telegraph, "I've never met a woman who thinks she's got a good enough figure." Her designs have been worn by Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Kate Moss, Sarah Jessica Parker, Madonna, Michelle Obama and Christina Hendricks. (Hendricks wore a Scott design at the Vanity Fair Oscars party last month.) Last fall, Scott worked with Banana Republic on a collaboration, that was by all accounts a success. The General Overseer of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet T.B Joshua has released yet another prophecy concerning the missing Malaysian Airlines. According to the man of God, those searching for the missing plane should search between the Indonesia and the Indian Ocean as its particles were scattered all over. He revealed this while prophesying to his church members as well as viewers all over the world on Saturday, 15th March 2014. T.B. Joshua said there were some strange people who were not supposed to be on the plane who boarded the plane, adding that the pilot lost signal and his bearings which caused the plane to be diverted. The prophet further revealed that the particles of the plane will be discovered very soon. "The whole thing has come to an end; they will discover the plane; particles, and everything will end any moment from now. This coming week, we are not going to talk about it again and the families will know their fate," he said. T.B. Joshua had earlier revealed that the missing plane was deep inside the sea.

“Intentions compressed into words enfold magical power. “- Deepak Chopra It does not have to be January 1st to give yourself a chance to make the most out of your day – and your life. Every day is a new day and a fresh start to learn, grow, develop your strengths, heal yourself from past regrets or hurts, and move forward older and wiser. Every day gives you a chance to reinvent yourself, to fine-tune who you are, and build on lessons of what you have learned. It is never too late to change things that are not working in your life and switch gears, instead of thinking in the same old ways, hoping for a different outcome. Be nimble, be flexible, and keep and open mind to start each day anew! Flexibility is the key! Ask yourself: How do you wake up each day? Do you start your day going already feeling pressured and rushed? Do you go through the morning routine without much thought at all, doing what you “have to do” to start your day? How about starting each new day with a moment to stop, breathe and think of a positive intention for the day. Think not just what you want to DO, but how you want to BE today? Each day is a new beginning and a blank slate. How would you like to create your day? Think of it as a blank canvas – what would you like to paint on it. What can you create? If you wake up in a negative mindset, you are more likely to paint a dark picture throughout the day, and your canvas will not reflect hope, happiness and joy. If you take each day to think positively, and have a positive intention for how you would like to create your day, how would your life be different? What positive outcome can reflect your positive intention? What can daily positive intentions do for you? Every day you will give yourself the gift of an “attitude of gratitude.” Visualizing how you would like your day will help release positive energy from within you and you will attract more positive energy from those around you. Instead of spinning your wheels in an old way of thinking, each day is a chance to reframe and re-look at things in a different way. You can experience each day an awe in the beauty and creation of the world – and the beauty of you who is in it! You find yourself shifting from an “”I can’t mindset” to an “I can” mindset.” With a focus on positive intentions, you feel more empowered and more like a “victor” than a “victim.” You are more mindful of the present, and will be more likely to live fully in the present each moment of each day. After all, the past is a great place to visit, but you don’t want to live there! So how about starting each day taking a moment to think of a positive intention for the day? Each morning, write it down and reflect each evening on how you did! Here are examples of Positive Intentions: “Today I would like to replace my feelings of annoyance towards my co-worker to feelings of acceptance.” “I am looking forward today to focusing on what I am grateful for in my life, rather than what is missing, and express gratefulness to others.” “Today I want to slow my life down and take time to savor the moment, especially with my children” Using each day to recommit yourself to positive thinking and intention will help you create the life you want and that you deserve! Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, has blamed Chris Foy, for Ramires’ red card against Aston Villa on Saturday. The Brazilian midfielder was sent off in the closing stages of the Blues’ 1-0 defeat at Villa Park, after a two-footed tackled on Karim El Ahmadi. Mourinho has asked Premier League chiefs not to assign Foy to Chelsea games again and now accused him of creating a situation in which his players lost control of their emotions and ended the game with nine men. “I am angry at what happened but you know in football it’s difficult to keep control of the emotions,” Mourinho said. “There are persons in the game who are responsible to help the players to control the emotions and sometimes these people are the people that push the players to lose their control. “For me, is it a red card? Yes, it is a red card. But it was not in the first minute, or minute 20, where it was completely out of context, where you don’t known why the player did this. “But I can’t separate Ramires’ tackle, which is a red card, that from the accumulation of frustration during the match. “Anyone who has played football, and that doesn’t have to be at a professional level, if you competes for something, you know exactly what Im speaking about. “When you see the moment and what happened before that, you understand clearly. I understand clearly that a player can make a mistake. He made a mistake, he’s going to pay for the mistake.” Mourinho, who himself was sent to the stands at the end of the game, is expected to escape any sanction for his behaviour on Saturday, with his dismissal likely to be deemed sufficient punishment.

Prominent Manchester United boardroom members, are no longer happy with manager David Moyes and are considering sacking the former Everton boss, according to club sources. According to ESPN, the Glazer family owners are now more open to replacing Moyes, who has endured a torrid start to his career as United coach. And although they will continue to back the beleaguered Scot, the next week could prove to be the deal breaker. The Red Devils must overturn a two-goal deficit against Olympiakos, to qualify for the quarter-finals of th UEFA Champions League, before travelling to West Ham and then playing their fierce rivals in the Manchester derby next Tuesday. If United fail to progress past the last 16 in Europe and perform badly in the next two league games, it might force the Glazers’ hands. Old Trafford sources also claim that Moyes’ predecessor, Sir Alex Ferguson, no longer backs his fellow Scot as vocally as before at boardroom level but it is believed that Bobby Charlton is still firmly behind the 50-year-old. Although plans have already been made to cope financially, if the club fails to qualify for next season’s Champions League, the board is also nervous about sponsors complaining about being linked with failure.

Wide condemnation and rejection have continued to greet the purported endorsement of the Supervising Minister of Education, Nyesom Wike as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State for the 2015 election. The purported endorsement, which is said to have been executed by an unknown group working within the PDP called Orashi/ Ogoni Alliance, held at Krisdera Hotel in Omoku, Rivers State. Krisdera Hotel is owned by Chairman of the PDP in Rivers State, Felix Obuah who is rumoured to be eyeing a ticket to the Federal House of Representatives. The conveners of the meeting, including Chief Olaka Worgu, Dr. Fred Kpakol and Chief Monday Mgbor, from the Ogoni region, issued no statement at the end of the ‘endorsement’. But their action has been greeted by serious criticisms from the Ogoni Solidarity Forum, OSF, Rivers Mainstream Coalition, RMC and Rivers Converge, who have all denounced the subtle move to hijack the PDP governorship ticket for Wike. In his reaction, coordinator of OSF, Celestine AkpoBari distanced the Ogoni from the activities of Nwogu, Kpakol and Mgbor, saying “no Ogoni will be willing to accept another 8 years of Ikwerre governorship in Rivers State. “No Ogoni will accept any ticket less than Ogoni governorship in 2015″, he exclaimed. In a short statement he made available to the media, AkpoBari stated that “the attention of Ogoni Solidarity Forum has been drawn to the purported endorsement of Barr Nyesom Wike by Chief Olaka Worgu, Dr. Fred Kpakol, Chief Monday Mgbor and others at the so-called Orashi/Ogoni alliance meeting held at Krisdera Hotel Omoku, Sunday evening, and wish to state that no Ogoni will be willing to accept another 8 years of Ikwerre governorship in Rivers State. No Ogoni will accept any ticket less than Ogoni governorship in 2015”. For Rivers Mainstream Coalition, those who packaged the so-called endorsement are nobody but “Ogoni GDI; Ikwerre GDI and Etche GDI”. One of the leaders of the coalition, Sotonye Ijuye-Dagogo stated that those involved in the Omoku ‘endorsement’ were all members of the Grassroots Development Initiative, GDI. “They are not the true representatives of their people. “But if true, it makes the political field freer. If the Ogoni, a major contending ethnic group for the governorship would surrender their aspiration to Wike, it means that other interest ethnic groups will have the whole space to themselves”, he said. The GDI is the campaign machinery of Wike who had told others in the opposition PDP that it was meant to campaign for the re- election of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) on Monday confirmed that 10 persons lost their lives in a motor accident along Lagos- Ibadan Expressway. The Commander of Olympic Unit of the commission, Mr Tanya Adeoye, who made the confirmation, told newsmen in Ibadan that the dead were burnt beyond recognition. Adeoye said that four persons survived the crash which involved two trucks and one 18-seater Toyota Hiace commercial bus with registration number BDG 767 XB. He said that the bus, which was travelling from Ibadan to Lagos was rammed into by a truck while it stopped to allow another truck with registration number SW 175 EPE to pull out of a quarry. He attributed the accident to speeding and dangerous driving, saying that “the commercial bus immediately went up in flames and the flames later spread to other trucks.’’ He said that the four people who sustained injuries were in the trucks and had been taken to the University College Hospital, Ibadan for treatment. “The victims who were burnt beyond recognition were deposited at the Adeoye State Hospital mortuary,” Adeoye added. While I understand that as men we tend to express love by what we DO rather than what we say, I do believe there are some ways that we can meet the emotional needs of our mates by doing a few things differently. These are things we aren’t necessarily taught. And without it being modeled, how do you learn them? With that said, ask yourself these questions men… and I hope these tips help! 1. Make telling her you love her a habit! know that for many men mentioning the “L” word automatically puts you in a position of weakness, but I’m here to tell you that she needs to hear it. She doesn’t just need to hear it when you are trying to make up for a wrong doing, but she needs to hear it just because you woke up next to her. What you may feel is mushy or soft, makes her feel like your relationship is secure and strong. Make it a habit to tell her you love her. 2. Listen to her…no really listen to her! As men, we are so solution oriented that we sometimes won’t even let her finish her sentence before we are trying to figure out how to fix her problem. Sometimes for her, she just needs you to listen, and what you will find is that just by listening she will come up with her own solution. She leaves that conversation feeling loved not because you gave her a solution, but because you listened to her problem. 3. Kiss and touch her just because The power of touch is essential in a relationship. Taking that extra second to kiss her before you leave or to kiss her while she is cooking means so much to her. It’s a small part of intimacy that keeps you connected and it helps her to feel loved and reassured. Holding her hand when you are out means more to her than you know. Sometimes as we get settled in a relationship we forget that showing affection is what keeps us connected. 4. Make her a priority es I’ve been guilty of this one as well, but now that I’m conscious of it I have made changes. Sometimes as men because we feel like our duty is to provide, we can sometimes put our jobs and careers before our mate. We only make time for her in between time, when sometimes she just wants you to choose her first! Yes CHOOSE HER FIRST! I’m not saying you have to do this every day, but making her a priority makes her feel loved and when she feels loved she will make sure you have everything you need to keep being great in your career! 5. Notice her Men our women are always doing things to try and get our attention and it’s up to us to notice it. When she changes her hair, buys a new outfit, puts on a different fragrance…. it’s imperative that you don’t just think it looks or smells good, it’s important to her that you ACKNOWLEDGE it. A big part of loving your woman is being in tune with her, and this shows that you are in tune…. besides she is probably doing it for you anyway! “Ain’t nobody ever took the time to try to teach me what love was…!” That was his cry in the song as Musiq pleaded for his woman to, “teach me how to love!” The truth is that many times men are taught how to be strong and tough, but we aren’t taught that sometimes our strength lies in our ability to be soft and in our ability to love!
