The much-anticipated feature "biometric authentication" on WhatsApp is now available! iOS users have started receiving an important Whatsapp update with the release of their latest build version 2.19.20.

The new update now allows users to lock their WhatsApp application natively by using the Face ID or the Touch ID. The new authentication feature has been in the course since October last year when the Face ID and Touch ID feature were added to the beta version of the social messaging application for the first time.

Once you have enabled the Face ID or Touch ID feature, the app will be completely protected, so the user will need to authenticate his/her identity in order to open WhatsApp (from the app icon, from the notification or from external pickers). It will protect the entire app, it means the feature doesn't add the additional security to your individual WhatsApp conversations.

How do I thrill to the New Feature?
Firstly, update your Whatsapp to the latest version.
Lock the WhatsApp app with Face ID or Touch ID by going to Settings > Account > Privacy > Screen Lock.
Once you moved to the Screen Lock, the app shows the available authentication method - either Face ID or Touch ID - that you can enable to lock your WhatsApp.

You can also choose whether you want the biometric authentication requirement immediately or after an interval of a minute, 15 minutes, or an hour.

Enabling this means that privacy-conscious users can add an extra layer of security to the WhatsApp conversations – even if their device is unlocked.

WhatsApp for Android is also in the rumors to bring a similar form of authentication layer in the coming future.

(i)Problem of finance
The British West African territory was a vast area and therefore to employ
British personnel from the Metropolis to effectively administer it needed a lot of
money to execute. The personnel had to travritain and be accommodated in
the colonies. It was thought that the funds needed to do this were too huge to
find. That was why they use of local people to accomplish the job.
(ii).Lack of personnel
Even if the funds were there to pay the personnel, the personnel themselves
were not availing themselves to be employed. The average British saw the
colonies as a harsh environment where they could die of malaria or other
diseases so they were unwilling to come and work there. This created the
shortage of critical personnel in the colonies. The British were therefore forced
to use local people, leading to the adoption of Indirect Rule.
(iii).Language barrier
The British could not speak the local language of the people and majority of
the people could not speak English. There was therefore a communications
problem. It was thought that getting a few people local people who could
speak both English and the local language could solve the problem. The was
the introduction of Rule.
(iv) .Poor road network
The road network was not well developed at the time therefore the colonialists could not easily travel from place to place to proper supervision.
Communication systems like telephones were also not very common back
then so the only way out was to let the natives themselves do the work. This
was another reason for the introduction of indirect Rule.
(v)A successful administrative system was already in place
In Northern Nigeria, where the system was first introduced , there already
existed a centralized system of administration, coupled with an efficient
system of tax collection. So the British just adopted what was already there
and used it to achieve their purpose.
(vi) Success of the system elsewhere
By the time Lord Luggard was introducing the system of indirect rule in
Northern Nigeria, the system had already been successfully practiced in India
and Uganda. The experiences gathered in India and Uganda convinced
Lord Luggard that Indirect Rule could thrive in West Africa.

Effects of Course of Study on your future career by: Kayode Oluwatobiloba Emmanuel. I want to believe that those who read my first write-up on the SECRETE OF DISTINCTION IN HIGHER INSTITUTION has been greatly inspired and motivated. Those who missed it should re-open it in a new window here, then continue with this.

I will start this topic by saying “The fact that you have academic excellence does not mean you will be successful”. They are two different words, the fact that one come out with distinction does not guarantee his success. This is because we end-up on the wrong line. I was chatting with a science student years back, who had not concluded on a future career yet at SS1. So many of us are just concerned about the present, we want to get into school quick,WHY? Because your friends are in school. Do you have the same life? Are your goals the same?
I get pissed off at times when I see JAMBites say “let them just give me any course jare”.

Sometimes when I hear people say “he studied law but he is now an actor and is making it big” I get angry because he had just wasted four years of his life on a course not useful to him. If he had patiently searched his mind, he would have seen in himself the gift of acting that he has and would have just studied theater art which would be a plus to him. Why do you have to go into a course that you don’t have passion for?

NEVER CHOOSE A COURSE BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO CHOICE OR TO GAIN ADMISSION QUICKLY BUT BECAUSE IT IS WHAT YOU ENJOY DOING.

Never allow anybody to choose a career for you, look within yourself, what do you enjoy doing, what catches your attention that you never get tired of? Take this, it is not how FAST but how WELL.

The fact that your friend gets into the institution before you does not mean he/she will make it before you.

* Are you good at writing – why don’t you study Mass Communication or English and be an editor in a news paper company or an author etc.

* Do you enjoy talking, chatting and interviewing people – why don’t you study mass communication and be a journalist, radio presenter, TV presenter etc.

* Do you enjoy working on the computer system or love computer operation – why don’t you study computer Engineering or Science.

* Do you like debating, talking or love fighting for peoples’ right? – why don’t you study Law and be a Lawyer?

* You enjoy dancing, acting, singing – why don’t you study theatre art and be a professional in the field.

* Do you enjoy doing electrical works, love dealing with engines – why don’t you go and study Engineering [there are various type of Engineering, pick the one that suits your passion].

* Do you have passion for medicine or you love treating people – why don’t you be a doctor or study Science Laboratory Technology.

* Do you love cooking or wants to know about cooking tips and origin of various recipee? – Why don’t you study Food Science and Technology [FST] and work with NAFDAC.

* Do you enjoy calculating and accounting for goods sold or like doing business or have administive skills? – Why don’t you study Accounting or Business administration and work in companies or banks even other firms.

* Do you love drawing or sketching? – You can be and artist or an Architect which you can study in the institution.
When you are able to study what is in you, I can bet you will never regret it.

These are what some young boys and ladies are getting wrong, they go into music without knowing the rudiments of music. They start dressing roughly and moving allover the streets just because they where able to wax just one disc that did not go beyond their local area. Grow up, go to school, study theatre art, your degree would give you respect, you will get to meet greater artiste and by the time you will getting into the music industry it will be with ease.

Pick a school that offer your course well and never choose an institution out of peer pressure but a school where you can easily enter and also attempt other school postume. You can opt-in for some school’s postume without picking them in jamb, just keep pursuing your dreams. Keep your focus, seek information, erase pride and you will see things falling in place. Never compare yourself with anybody, you are unique and with great attributes. Education becomes easy for you when you enjoy your course of study.

YES: We have list of best schools in Nigeria based on courses they offer.

This problem starts from ss1 when proper orientation and information are not given to students before choosing their departments. I want to believe that this writeup as opened your eyes to some hidden facts you never thought about. For Daily Inspirational and Motivational Write ups, like my Facebook page by clicking on my name.

What about costs? Check how much schools are charging as fees to study any course.

Facebook Messenger has been receiving lots of features lately and here, we will be talking about the "Unsend" feature.

I know we ain't new to this feature as other messaging apps like Whatsapp, Skype, Telegram etc already have this feature for long. Incase you are new to this feature, the Unsend feature allows users to delete already sent messages.

According to reports on various sources, the feature have been rolled out on the messenger app. Facebook has started rolling out the unsend feature in its Messenger app in phased manner.

The first wave of countries that will receive the feature includes but not limited to Colombia, Bolivia, Poland and Lithuania.

The feature will enable you to delete messages you have sent mistakenly. All you have to do is just press and hold on the message and then select the “Remove for Everyone” option. After this, the message will be deleted for both the sender and the recipient.

However, Facebook will keep the message for sometime in order to review the message and report if they find something unethical or related to harassment.

That's not all, the latest version of Facebook Messenger has been redesigned with a new Interface and more features been added. Head over to Google PlayStore to update the app if you haven't done so yet.

Mobile Phone / Top 7 Ways to Use a Screen Recorder
« on: November 18, 2018, 10:56:05 pm »
A screen recorder serves the dual purpose of recording audio as well as video content. No matter if you're a coder who creates codes for YouTube videos or an entrepreneur who prepares presentations and visuals for your clients, the thought of "Only if I had recorded that!" would have surely crossed your mind.

With the best screen recording software like the one from Movavi, you can take your message across to your audience. You can record tutorials the easy way, and its 2-in-1 video functionalities mean that you could even edit the recorded screen videos as you want.  Whether it be capturing online videos, the games you play or even recording programming activity, the recorder makes it all seem really easy.

Most of the screen recorders available on the internet are user-friendly and have a great user interface, to begin with.

The 7 Ways Using a Screen Recorder Can Help You
Here are certain ways a screen recorder could make your life much simpler -

1. Record content for future use
Think the statistics mentioned in the online presentation won't stay with you for long? Or a particular Skype call will help you crack your dream interview? A screen recorder records all the above information in real time, making future reference a cake-walk for you.

2. Showcase your product effectively
If you are a person who looks after the Sale of your firm and needs a perfect method to get your message across to your prospects, then a screen recorder will do just that. It helps to enhance the user interface as the prospect gets a first-hand experience of your product - making it stand out among the rest!

3. Past references
If the current design of your product is just not up to the mark and you miss the old design but you somehow managed to record the entire procedure of creating the old design with your screen recorder, then you are in safe hands. This will help you to refer from your past work and work on creating a product, suitable to the needs and the requirements of the customers.

4. Educational Purposes
One of the top ways for which one can use a screen recorder is to record a video to spread knowledge on a particular topic, you are passionate about. Let us take an example of a person who is interested in Digital Artwork. This person can create tutorials on several digital artwork platforms and upload them on the internet for those who want to learn the same skill. This will not only help the person to hone their skill, but also provide education to those who may not have access to such facilities.

5. Customer Support
I know of a certain Information Technology company that provides customer support with the help of screen recording. Mobile Phone / MTN Introduces Low-priced 3G Feature Phone Running on KaiOS
« on: November 18, 2018, 10:48:28 pm »
Those who used the MTN Sm@rt S620 or Sm@rt S720i to enjoyed Glo Bis subscription can never forget those phones. MTN Sm@rt S620 and Sm@rt S720i are the MTN first Android Smartphone which was released sometimes in 2014. Now, MTN is planning to release another 3G feature smartphone in Africa with affordable price.

South Africa-based multinational mobile telecommunications company - MTN, has announced a partnership with China Mobile, chipmaker Unisoc, and software developer KaiOS to launch a 3G “smart feature phone” for Africa.

The new 3G smart feature phone will include rear and front-facing cameras and key Google applications which run on KaiOS. These include Search, Maps, Assistant, and YouTube.

The device will also feature a 2000mAh battery, offering up to two weeks of standby time and 2-5 days of life under average usage.

No brand name has been decided for the device yet. Speaking at AfricaCom, MTN CEO Rob Shuter joked that he is addicted to acronyms, so he looked at the names of the companies — MTN, Unisoc, China Mobile, and KaiOS — for inspiration.

“All I came up with was MUCH, which won’t win any marketing awards,” Shuter said.

MTN aims to sell 10 million devices over the next three years, bringing many new subscribers into the MTN fold in the process.

MTN believed that a large proportion of subscribers still use 3G network in Africa despite 4G penetration. Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa will be few of the countries where MTN will roll out the device.

Pricing?
The phone will be brought in at a cheap price of $20 (N7200), MTN said.

The device is expected to be launch in the first quarter of 2019 across nearly all its markets in Africa.

Google Play Store allows its customers demand an app refund- for whatever reason- within the first two hours after a purchase has been made. After that, things can get a little more situational and difficult- but these are some really cool ways by which you can potentially get a refund.

How To Get A Hassle-Free Refund Within Your First Two Hours

Like every other business policy, Big G favours customers rather than sellers. This is why Google Play’s refund policy allows you request for your cash within the first two hours of app purchase. Historically, this refund period has been about fifteen minutes- which as you can guess isn’t much… erm… enough time to download a heavy game and verify if it worked seamlessly on your tablet or android phone as expected. Now, more time is being given- two hours!

Note: Never abuse this process as Google can step in if they detect you are trying to abuse the whole process and the end result could be you losing your account to a “Forever Ban”; now, we don’t want that now, do we?

> To do this, kindly open the App (Google Play store) on your Android device, click the menu button, and tap “My account”

> Navigate to the “My orders” section. Find and select the app you want refunded. You will find a “Refund button” there If it’s been less than two hours since you bought the app. Tap the “Refund” button. Google Play Store will refund your money and complete the uninstallation of the app from your Android device. Immediately this is done, the app purchase status on this page will now read “Cancelled”

Important: You can only ask for a refund once for each Android game or app on your account. That means, if you purchase this app or game in the future, you won’t be able to refund it. Google does this to prevent people from abusing it i.e. continually refunding and repurchasing apps to avoid paying the developer for them.

Ask The Developer By Contacting Them

Now, once the two-hour refund period is over, you can’t get your cash back that easily anymore. However, the app or game’s developer can decide if you will get a refund or not/ To get a refund, you’ll need to appeal to the app’s developer.

Every developer has the option to come up with their own decision, so Google policy does not come to play here.

Here are some of the best reasons an android developer can approve your refund:

You installed an app quite recently and it suddenly stops working and becomes unusable
Your child used your device to buy an app without your knowledge

But If you just want your money back because you’ve completed an app features or completed all levels in a mobile game, the developer most likely wouldn’t take it nicely.

To find an app developer’s contact, go to the individual’s app’s page. Open Google Play on your Android tablet or smartphone. Then search for the app’s name, and look up its page. Tap on “Read more”, scroll down, and search for the contact detail you need.

Using a Computer, you can still get the contact information by visiting Google Play website for the target app and look at the app’s page. Navigate to the “Additional Information” section; there, you will find the app owner’s contact information.

Contact him or her and ask nicely for a refund, explaining honestly why you are convinced you should get one. He or She will then decide if your reason is logical enough.

Contact Google For Help

Did the developer disapprove your refund plea even when your reasons make total sense?
I’ve got good news for you! You can directly make with contact Google Play’s customer service people. As Google says:

“If the developer doesn’t have contact information listed, hasn’t responded to your request, or their response was unsatisfactory, contact our support team to see if we can help.”

Now, if your reason for a refund isn’t very good, Google will most likely decline your refund. But it’s worth a shot if you have one.

Simply head over to the Google Play help website, tap “Contact Us” press “Android apps & games” and click “Request a refund” to begin the process. You’ll be able to contact support by email, phone, or textchat.

Good luck!!!!

It is so unfortunate that one of DStv strongest competitors is closing down the operation. Kwesé has streamlined its satellite television service.

With just 18-months of operation, Kwese TV is closing down operation in over 50 cities across the African continent to focus on digital of Video On Demand (VOD), according to a press statement released by their parent company, Econet Media.

According to a statement released by Econet Media, reportedly said that the development had been necessitated by review of its business strategy and service offerings, meaning that the company is following changes in the global digital and satellite broadcasting sector, as well as the growth in access to mobile and fixed broadband on the continent.

As of November 1, Kwese will only offer three services; Kwese Free Sports, Kwese iflix and Kwese Play. Those who had Kwese’s satellite service were surprised to wake up on the first of this month to see all their channels disappear.

Below is the official statement posted on FB Page by IDGD - Kwese Authorised Dealer:
Dear valued customer,

Having been in the African market for almost two years, Kwesé has taken time to monitor subscriber viewing habits and preferences. These insights have guided our efforts to provide a product range that is aligned to market needs. Kwesé has seen a noticeable shift in consumer viewing habits namely; video consumption on mobile phones, and increased uptake of OTT services across our markets. It is with these changes in mind, that Kwesé is proud to announce its new streamlined product offering.

Kwesé will now offer the following services;

1. Kwesé Free Sports (KFS),
2. Kwesé iflix and,
3. Kwesé Play

In focusing on these three services, Kwesé will streamline its satellite television service. Our new bouquet will carry selected sports and general entertainment programming for a minimal fee. Customers who have already paid their subscriptions for the month of November, or in advance, will receive a refund.

You will now have the option of enjoying premium sports content at no cost on KFS, enjoy world class international and African entertainment, news and sports content with a subscription fee of their choosing on Kwesé iflix, stream over 200 general entertainment channels on Kwesé Play for free with fixed broadband, and delight in a free satellite TV service on Kwesé TV. These changes are in keeping with Kwesé’s commitment to providing affordable premium content.

Kwesé wishes to thank you as our loyal customer for your support. We hope that you continue to support us going forward as you enjoy our affordable premium content services mentioned above.

Kwesé TV’s current subscription services and channel offering will cease as of 1 November 2018.

Further updates regarding Kwesé TV’s revised channel line-up will be announced in due course.
Kwese was launched in Ghana, Rwanda, Zambia, and Nigeria in 2017 as an alternative service to MultiChoice DStv, with the hope that it will change the pay-TV sector in Africa, but unfortunately, Kwese TV failed to outsmart DStv in the pay-TV industry in Africa.

Now that Kwese Satellite TV has conquered, can TStv as well survive their fighting?

Nigeria's first indigenous telecom operator, Globacom has reconfirmed the spread of its 4G LTE service in all the 36 states of Nigeria and also, in the operator’s 4G LTE footprint are 208 tertiary institutions spread across the six geopolitical zones of the country, where students have been empowered with the fastest and most affordable data services.

This effectively makes Globacom the network with the widest 4G LTE coverage of the country, following its introduction of the technology in October, 2016.

Globacom provides its 4G service on the much sought-after 700MHz band, which gives the operator’s 4G service better coverage and penetration.

”The radio propagation property of the 700MHz band enables Globacom 4G signal to travel the farthest, giving the largest coverage for any site. In effect, any city where Glo LTE is present, it covers the widest area than any other network,” Globacom said in a statement released from its head office in Lagos at the weekend.

The operator explained that the band also gives a better indoor penetration than other networks which are not on the band.

”Indeed, it offers seamless 4G coverage within the major cities without the requirement of handing over to 3G or 2G while using data, whether the subscriber is indoor or outdoor. This ensures a better user experience for 4G subscribers on the Glo network”, the operator’s spokesperson said.

According to the spokesperson, another edge the band has is that it comes with a dedicated spectrum bandwidth of 10MHz which gives users the fastest speed required to download movies and videos or listen to music without any delay.

How to Activate Glo 4G LTE Nework

First of all, make sure you have a 4G LTE enabled device.
Then, go to the nearby Glo office and buy a new 4G LTE SIM, get it registered or simply swap your normal Glo sim for a 4G LTE sim.
Once it has been successfully swapped, dial *777# to get any of the 4G available plans.
Glo has made it easier for you to know if your phone is compatible with their 4G LTE network, just text 4G to 400 and you'll receive a message telling you if its compatible or not.
If there is Glo 4G LTE service in your area and you are using it. Please share your experience in the comments section below.
