Post UTME | Admission News / 2019 UTME begins April 11, says JAMB
« on: March 14, 2019, 08:41:37 pm »

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has said it will conduct the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation examination, which more than 1. 8 million candidates are expected to sit for nationwide , on Thursday, April 11 . The JAMB Head of Public Affairs, Dr Fabian Benjamin , who disclosed this in a statement released on Wednesday, said candidates were expected to begin the printing of the 2019 UTME notification slips from Tuesday , April 2.

The board added that it had also fixed Monday, April 1 as the new date for its 2019 mock examination, which was earlier scheduled for Saturday, March 23 . It noted that the changes in dates were due to “circumstances ” beyond its control .

JAMB had on February 20 postponed both the mock examination and the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination because of the rescheduled Presidential and National Assembly elections. But the board decided on Wednesday that its mock examination would hold on April 1 and the UTME would commence by April 11.

The statement partly reads, ” All the details on the slips for the mock examination remain the same except the examination date which is now April 1, 2019.

“The board has also scheduled to conduct the 2019 UTME from Thursday, April 11 .

Candidates are to begin the printing of the 2019 UTME notification slips from Tuesday , April 2.

“All candidates who registered for the 2019 UTME are to ensure that they print their examination notification slips before the day of the examination as no excuses would be entertained .

The public should note that the board will not reschedule the examination for any candidate .

Candidates can also print their slips anywhere.

The board had earlier closed the sale of its UTME and Direct Entry application document on Thursday, February 21. But it was discovered that 41, 063 candidates created profiles and were unable to complete their registration formalities after initiating the process .

“In view of this consideration the board has opened the registration portal, effective from Wednesday March 13, for candidates to complete their registration formalities .

The portal will be closed on Friday , March 15 . ”

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, has denied receiving shortfall of teachers’ salary and promotion arrears from the Federal Government. President of ASUP, Dr Usman Dutse, who spoke with newsmen, said the union is till waiting for concerete evidence from the Federal Government showing the details of payment of the N16.4 billion shortfall of members’ salary and promotion arrears and another N30 billion revitalisation funds.

According to him, the evidence must have to emanate from the Office of Accountant-General of the Federation and not necessarily to reflect on their bank salary accounts before the congress of the union would decide the next line of action as regards their ongoing strike.

Dutsedisclsoed that the Federal Government met with ASUP representatives last Thursday and presented the efforts of government to address the lingering crisis including the claims of raising N46.4 billion to pay shortfall of salaries arrears and revitalisation while promising to fast-track other issues.

He however stated that as at Monday 4th Febrary, 2019, the union is yet to get evidence to proof the release of such fund.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB has again disclosed that it has so far registered 1,205,187 candidates for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination UTME, which will commence Saturday, March 16 and end Saturday, March 23.

It was gathered that Lagos and Kaduna states recorded the highest registrations with 161,654 and 76,049 candidates, respectively.

The board also reiterated that the phone numbers candidates used for their profile code registration, electronic pin vending and registration for the previous UTME, can only be used for the 2019 UTME by the same candidates only and no other person.

JAMB equally added that candidates using their previous phone numbers for the second or third time will use the same profile code to purchase the electronic pin. If the profile code has been forgotten, the candidate can retrieve it through a text message. In other words, the old profile code can be used by the same candidate to procure the new electronic pin.
