Former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode was Monday ordered to be remanded in Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC by a Lagos State Magistrate court sitting in Ikeja for 21 days.

The EFCC has brought an application before the court seeking to remand Fani Kayode in custody to enable it conduct further investigation into the alleged N1.5 bn fraud leveled against him pending when he will be brought before a regular court.

After hearing the arguments canvassed by the lawyers representing the anti-graft agency, Mr. A. N. Anana and Fani- Kayode's lawyer, Wale Balogun, the presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi granted the remand application.

The court subsequently granted the request and ordered that he be kept for 21 days.

The body had argued that the remand application which was brought pursuant to section 261 of the  Administration of Criminal Justice Act, ACJA, 2011, of Lagos State, was to remand the former spokesman for the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation in the 2015 general election, pending when he will be properly arraigned at the appropriate Court.

Fani Kayode's lawyer, Balogun while opposing the EFCC's remand application, argued that the anti-graft agency's application was brought in breach of  his constitutional rights, adding that the defendant had been granted an administrative bail by the EFCC but it refused to allow him perfect the bail.
He argued that the anti-graft agency had secured the same order of remand before an Abuja Chief Magistrate court, claiming the application is an abuse of court process.

The lawyer therefore urged the court to dismiss the EFCC's application against his client who appeared in court on kaftan and Kito robber slippers.

Dismissing Kayode's application, the  Chief Magistrate Osunsanmi ruled that he failed to present any material evidence before the court to support the argument that the former Minister of Aviation has been charged before any court for the alleged offence.

The Magistrate subsequently ordered that Fani Kayode be remanded at the EFCC's custody for 21 days pending when he will be arraigned at the appropriate court.

The former minister was however unruffled about the whole process as he was sharing jokes with his lawyers and some of his friends.

More than 148 people were killed in bombings claimed by the Islamic State group in northwestern Syria, the deadliest attacks to date in the regime's coastal heartland yesterday.

Seven near-simultaneous explosions targeted bus stations, hospitals and other civilian sites in the seaside cities of Jableh and Tartus, which until now had been relatively insulated from Syria's five-year war.

The attacks on strongholds of President Bashar al-Assad's regime came as IS faces mounting pressure in Syria and neighbouring Iraq, where a major offensive to retake the jihadist-held city of Fallujah is underway.

One hundred people were killed in Jableh and another 48 in Tartus to the south, including children.

Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said they were "without a doubt the deadliest attacks" on the two cities since the start of the war. IS claimed the blasts in a statement, saying they were in retaliation for Syrian regime and Russian air strikes against the jihadists and vowed to carry out "more devastating and bitter attacks".

South African controversial prophet is at it again. This time around, Prophet Penuel Mnguni of the End Time Disciples Ministry who is known for his 'weird acts' commanded a woman during his church service to come out, act in form of a horse as he rode on her comfortably within the church as he preaches. The pictures have since gone viral. In another scene, he told a male member to lie like a snake, but we don't know what he did with him.
But then, like the name of his ministry says, 'End Time Disciples Ministry', should anyone be surprised? See more photos below...

Chelsea have agreed a new £60m-a-year kit sponsorship deal with global manufacturers Nike.

Last week the Blues announced plans to cut their partnership with adidas short by six years, a mutual agreement that would cost the Stamford Bridge outfit in excess of £40m in compensation.

With adidas Chelsea were earning £30milion-per-annum, a partnership that has run from 2006: 'Chelsea Football Club can confirm we have mutually agreed with adidas to end our longstanding partnership at the end of the 2016/17 season,' read a statement on their website.

'Having begun our relationship in 2006, we would like to thank adidas for their fantastic support and cooperation over the past 10 years.'

In a swift switch to one of adidas' biggest commercial rivals, Chelsea have doubled their kit sponsorship income with a deal set to be worth £60m-a-year, the Telegraph claim.

It is thought Chelsea's Russian born director orchestrated the deal Marina Granovskaia which could run for 10 years earning the club £600m.

Father of an 18-month-old baby, Mr. Ekpedeme Robinson, on Friday recalled how the effective use of social media helped him track the nanny who stole his child that was left in her custody.

Robinson's little boy, David, was abducted in his Satellite Town residence in Calabar, Cross River State, by his 18-year-old nanny, Covenant Bassey, on May 13.
But by divine intervention through the effective use of the social media, specifically Facebook, the fleeing nanny was nabbed with the abducted David at Eleme in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on May 16.

The boy's father had gone to pick up his other two children from school but on getting back home, he observed that his nanny and the third child were nowhere to be found.

Although he had immediately reported the incident at the Airport Police Station along the IBB Way in Calabar, Robinson, in collaboration with friends and members of his church, had posted the pictures of the missing child and that of the nanny on Facebook informing users of the development.

Narrating his three-day ordeal before his son was rescued, Robinson said after reporting the matter to the police, his Dominion City Church members immediately posted the pictures and his contact numbers on the social media.
He noted that the first person to contact him on phone concerning the whereabouts of the missing child was from a lady in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, who said she boarded the same vehicle with the nanny and the little boy from Calabar.

"We flooded the social media with information concerning the nanny and my child. A lady called from Eket on Saturday to tell us that they boarded the same vehicle from Calabar. She said she saw the information on  facebook after she had alighted from the taxi.

"The lady had said that while in the taxi, the passengers were admiring the baby because of his very light complexion in contrast with the dark nanny. Nobody suspected that the nanny had stolen the boy because she claimed that the father was light skinned.

"We immediately proceeded to Eket. We went to the police in Eket and the search continued. While there, we got another call from a guy in Port Harcourt who said he had just seen the nanny and my little boy. He also said he saw the information on the social media and recognised the nanny and the boy.

"We asked him to keep staying close to her while we mobilised some of our church members and friends in Port Harcourt to immediately find their way towards the trailer park in Eleme and by the time they got there, the caller had grabbed the nanny." Punch adds that while commending members of his church and the police for their swift intervention, Robinson noted that the social media has huge advantages when used positively.

Little David had since been released to his parents while the nanny is still in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Cross River State Police Command in Calabar.

Earlyface The real disadvantages of changing your phones imei number

Changing of the International Mobile station Equipment Identity number (IMEI) is no longer a new or strange thing in our society. Since the introduction of Glo Bis on Android, many Android phone users mostly, those with Chinese android brands (MTK) have embraced the idea of changing their phones IMEI number since in one way or the other reduce the cost of data subscription.

Many other people also, clone their phones imei to that of other phones just so they'd accumulate free Gigs or data from networks offering free data to specific phones for specific period of time. IMEI numbers have one principal purpose, thats to identify mobile devices.

Their secondary purpose, or intention, is to prevent theft. If a mobile device can be universally identified, a thief cannot change the SIM card on a phone and expect to keep the phone. IMEI numbers are hard-coded into device hardware, making it nearly impossible to change them without somehow damaging the device.

When a network provider like Airtel , Mtn , 9mobile ,Or Glo nows that a device has been stolen, it can blacklist the IMEI code and lock it out of the its network. Although changing of imei helps in reducing the cost of data, it also has its small small disadvantages... The disadvantages aren't exactly something to take note since they occur in rear cases.

Some Disadvantages of changing your phones IMEI number:
1. It is illegal in some countries: Changing of phones imei is very illegal in many countries... Although I don't know if my beloved country Nigeria is included in those countries since I haven't heard of any court case regarding imei cloning or something related. You can change your phone's IMEI number in Africa or Asia and get Scot free, but if you're caught changing your imei in Europe, you will be locked up In chainsss.

2. It may damage your device: Since Imei numbers are hard-coded into device system, it is likely to damage your device when you try to change them. Sometime, I wonder if this information is really true.. Some Chinese device doesn't obey this law at all. Maybe the chin chongs didn't hard- code their imei numbers into their devices after all... changing of chinese phones IMEI number is as easy as loading a recharge card. It is almost risk free.

3. You lost true ownership or right to your device: When you buy a new phone, the seller always ensure to write down the imei number of the phone to the receipt. In my own knowledge, I believe they write down the imei to your receipt so you'd be able to claim your phone if its stolen and found. I don't really know how to explain this but this example will..

Assuming u buy a device and change the imei, and then within 2-3 weeks the device gets stolen, you then rush and inform all your neighbours and friends to inform you if they find any Device that looks like yours in the hands of people you suspect. If by the grace of God they find the device, you won't be able to claim it. Yea, you won't be able to claim it since the device imei won't correlate to the one you have in your receipt. For sure the thief will win since you weren't able to provide that one unique source of true ownership.

Hey guys.. This disadvantages hardly occur though.. I'd say the chances of them occurring is 10 in a scale of 200 that's 10/200 poor right? This shouldn't exactly discourage from tweaking your device to enjoy cheap or free data .. But its good you be aware though so if anything happens, you won't blame anyone but yourself.

Tracking lost or stolen mobile phone using IMEI number

IMEI number is an unique number given to every GSM phone. It is different from phone number, which is based on the SIM card used. IMEI number of phone will be same even when using different SIM cards. IMEI number is a 15 digit number supposed to be unique to each phone.

When you purchase a new phone, it is recommended to write down your phone's IMEI number in a safe place. IMEI number is usually displayed when you type *#06# in phone dial pad. it is also displayed in phone battery chamber or in the box of phone.

Or just type your name here, and get your numbers

How IMEI helps in tracking lost mobile phone ?

When a GSM phone is inserted with a SIM card and when it connects to mobile service provider, the IMEI number of the phone is transmitted to mobile service provider. So when your phone is lost or stolen and is inserted with a new SIM card, then IMEI is still transmitted to the service provider of new SIM card. So if there is a network of all service providers in a country offering to find where a phone with particular IMEI is used, then it can help to locate any stolen or lost mobile phones.

Even though, there are such network of mobile service provides in some countries, It is not available in countries like India where cases of lost or stolen mobiles are a lot. In UK for example, there is Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) which maintains a database of all stolen or lost phone IMEI and all the service providers in UK blocks access to phones which have IMEI in this database. So in effect this renders the phone useless. If similar database is set up with help of all service providers in all countries, it will help a lot in recovering stolen mobile phones.

What to do when mobile phone is lost or stolen ?

First thing to do on losing your mobile phone is to contact your mobile service provider and have the SIM card blocked. This is to avoid somebody else using your mobile number. Nowadays mobile is used as security check in different areas like banking, email etc. so if you don't block the SIM, the stolen person can impersonate you to get access to your email or online banking account. When blocking the SIM, you may be required to produce some proof of identity which you gave while taking the SIM card. After blocking the SIM, service provide will issue a new SIM card which can be used in different mobile. So you can retain the mobile number you had in your lost mobile.

Next you can file a FIR with police, they can help in recovering the mobile phone. If you live in a country having a database of stolen IMEI like the one mentioned above, it will easier to recover the mobile.
