The Federal Government, led by The minister of Youth and Employment, Chris Ngige, is optimistic that the 65 day old strike embarked upon by ASUU will be called off on or before the weekend, to enable students resume classes by next week.

This notion was as a result of the Agreement by FG to release about N35bn out of the earned allowance, and to accommodate payment of service shortfall in the system. With this action, the Federal Government is optimistic that a positive feedback will be received from ASUU on Thursday, thereby enabling students resume by weekend.

The President of ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, after the meeting on 7th January, had stated that he would take back the proposal by the FG, to the ASUU members, and that is when the decision to either call off the strike or to continue will be made.

Although FG expects ASUU to give a positive feedback on Thursday, 10th January, no specific date was announced by the ASUU President on when a meeting with other ASUU members will be held.

Mobile Phone / Android 9 Pie OTA Update Now Released For Infinix Smart 2
« on: January 08, 2019, 10:49:40 pm »
Good news for those using the Infinix Smart 2, as you can now enjoy the new and latest operating system on your device. The update is arriving via OTA (Over-The-Air)

Android Pie brings a number of cool new features to devices, particularly Adaptive Battery, App Actions, Slices, and Adaptive Brightness. There’s much more than that added with the update to Android Pie, but those are certainly the highlights. It is unknown, however, if Infinix intends on including all of these new features or not.

Before you think of carrying out this update, make sure you unroot your phone if it is rooted and also revert back to stock ROM if you installed a custom ROM to avoid stories that touch the heart.

You probably need to connect to a fast Wi-Fi network or subscribe for the affordable data plan to download, make sure your phone is not rooted, because the update may crash rooted devices and also charge your battery to at least 70% before proceeding with the software update.

Once the above requirements are met, go ahead with the below procedures.
Firstly, you should check your build number.
Go to Settings » About Phone (at bottom of the page) » Build number
Now, go to your phone “Settings” click on the “About Phone”
Click “System Update”, then “Local Update”.
Click on your TCard Storage and hit the install button.
Relax and wait for the new update to fully install. After successful installation, your phone will be rebooted and you are good to go. Take note that the first booting process might take a few minutes to complete.

NB: The update is gradually rolling out and wait for it to get to you if you don’t already have it.

The long awaited transition of Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) to a University as we have gathered is currently at an advanced stage and will soon be implemented according to the decision recently reached during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja, which approved a comprehensive reform of Nigeria’s tertiary education system.

It was learnt that the Federal House of Representatives committee on Tertiary Education and Services led by its Chairman, Hon. Aminu Suleiman during an oversight visit to YABATECH for the 2018 finance of the institution disclosed that the visit was also in line with the transition of Yabatch to a City University

While paperwork on the conversion is ongoing at the Federal level, the Rector of Yabatech, Engr. Obafemi Omokungbe lamented on the shortage of personnels in the institution stressing that “recruitment has been crippled due to budget constraints and approval by the federal government.

He also said that there is need for physical development of the premier institution to meet global standards.
“The college has introduced new accredited programmes which has called for physical expansion; Epe campus being our focus. Epe campus is an extension of Yaba College of Technology with low physical development”, he stressed.
