Latest Gists In Town / ASUU Gives Conditions To Call-Off Strike
« on: January 15, 2019, 04:15:44 pm »
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has put down conditions that the Federal Government has to meet before the ongoing strike by the union will be called off. According to the union, the ongoing strike action will likely continue except the Federal Government is able to meet these conditions.

The union said to end the strike, the Federal Government must urgently release additional N50 billion to the N20 billion released earlier for revitalisation fund and show evidence of mainstreaming the Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) into the 2019 budget and evidence of the payment of shortfall in salaries.

President of ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, said this to newsmen in an interview. He added that the unions conditions would be communicated to the Federal Government today at the inauguration of the platform for addressing matters relating to state universities.

“There are basically two or three major areas; one is on the revitalisation fund. We presented to them that government owed an outstanding balance of N1.1 trillion in five tranches. But what government eventually proposed is something that is far-fetched. They were talking about N20 billion that will be released in two tranches starting from next quarter, and we felt that will not address the issue at hand. Though they said that they released N20 billion earlier, the N20 billion was to be released in 2017, if they released it in November 2018, it is not the same thing.

“Out of the N20 billion that the government released earlier, we have outstanding N200 billion. So, if government can release N50 billion in addition to the N20 billion released earlier; and the remaining N150 billion can be released on quarterly basis within this year, N50 billion each for the remaining three quarters, then it will show a sign of commitment.”

The group also demanded that for EAA and shortfall in salaries, government should provide evidence of its promises and give specific information and guidelines to its proposals.

He added that although the government has shown a paper authorising the release of N15.89 billion to universities, the universities have not confirmed receipt and as far as ASUU is concerned, it is an issue of once bitten, twice shy.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has warned prospective candidates for the 2019 UTME to ensure they adhere strictly to the stipulated registration guidelines. The Board's Head of media, Dr Fabian Benjamin gave this warning on Friday during an interview with newsmen in Lagos.

According to Benjamin, all candidates who desire to register for the examination must ensure they begin by sending their full names, (surname first) to the code provided by the board. In doing this, candidates must ensure that no other person had used the telephone number for the same purpose.

“No two persons must use a single GSM number in commencing the registration process as it will not be acceptable. “The way it is configured is one individual to one telephone number that will remain exclusive to that single individual for the purpose of the entire examination process. “Not even siblings are allowed to share a particular telephone number for this purpose. “

However, candidates who used their phone lines last year but are still going to participate in this year's UTME can use the same phone line they used last year for that purpose.

In the case of a missing telephone line, Benjamin  advised that it would be safe to get a fresh telephone number for the purpose to send the code for the candidate’s profile number. “No two persons can share a telephone number for the purpose of confidentiality. “As a rule, it has always been one person to a telephone number to get a profile number that will enable candidates do the proper registration and capturing,’’ he said.

A student of the University of Ilorin, got penalized and was served a dress code violation form for reportedly wearing a jean and a long polo shirt within the school premises.

The student took to social media to express how disappointed she was after her I.D card was seized and was asked to pay a fine of N2,000.

She wrote; What manner of extortion is this abeg? Dress code asked me to pay N2,000 into the university account because I’m wearing jean and an extra large top. And they collected my permanent I.D card. SMH

While some folks applaud the school for their level of decency, others are seeing it as a way of extortion. However, a majority thinks her dressing is no way near 'Indecent'.

As a woman in a budding relationship, knowing when your man is well into you might not be such a difficult thing.

He would often blurt out to his friends how amazing his girl is and would possibly not spare an opportunity to spoil you. He would always want to visit or put a call across to you even for the silliest reasons.

However, knowing when he’s not interested might not be as easy since most men have a penchant for being reserved; covert; and sometimes unreadable, especially when it comes to relationships.

Here are seven signs that your man is not really interested in you.

He avoids intimacy and physical contact

Avoiding intimate discussions and physical contact are common ways of showing non-commitment by men.

If you’re always the one doing all the talking during discussions and he often gives indifferent affirmations, the ‘hmms and ahs’, then watch out. Perhaps he’s not really digging you.

He’s not inquisitive about you

When your man incessantly bombs you with questions about your personal life, it’s a sign he’s interested in you and wants to know more about you.

When it’s the other way around, when your hubby only talks about himself with very little or no interest in what’s going on with you, then maybe he’s not so interested in you after all.

He’s not making advances

Here’s another sign he’s not interested in you–when he’s not making advances, he’s not asking you out on dates or to have one-on-one moments.

When a man is truly interested in the lady in any relationship, he would latch onto her and ache to have personal moments with her as often as he can to keep the relationship on track.

But when that isn’t the case for you, when the relationship is progressing in a juiceless manner, then there are chances you are ‘walking alone’.

Ignoring signals

A popular non-verbal behaviour that is communicative of disinterest among the male folks in any budding or potential relationship is the failure to reciprocate clear signals from their female folks.

A man’s body language readily tells if he’s into you but in cases where these non-verbal signals are coming from only you, and your hubby fails to reciprocate them, then it’s safe to assume he’s not interested in you after all.

He avoids one-on-one moments

Your man is probably not interested in you if he is in the habit of evading personal moments with you.

Perhaps he tells you he has an urgent family issue to rectify or suddenly receives emergency calls when faced with an alone time with you.

More obvious is when you have a feeling he’s seeking the company of his friends just to prevent you from having personal moments with him.

He’s too busy for you

Men in any meaningful relationship have a penchant for being ‘crazy’ about their partners that they would go an extra mile to make time for their girl even amid busy schedules.

In cases when they are genuinely busy, they would always put obviously needless calls to their lovers over any slightest reason, just to keep in touch.

However, when your man is often too busy to keep up with you or is in the habit of being out of contact for days, then he’s obviously not interested in you or any romantic relationship you have to offer.

Check out our Lyrics English Translation and Meaning to Olamide’s new song which he dubbed Logba Logba. Produced by Killertunes; video directed by Unlimited L.A.

LOGBA LOGBA MEANING: it’s Yoruba and it means to “enjoy one’s time” in English language. ‘Igba’ is ‘time/period/reign’ and ‘lo’ means ‘use’. Repeating it twice is just for emphasis. Actually, in this song, Olamide just means he’s a lavish spender or big baller.

(CHORUS/INTRO)
Aye ori mi ni mo je, ma logba mi o, eh
: am enjoying my life, I’ll use my time

Eledumare lo seyi, eru o bami o
