JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed that the board will soon compile and publish the names of people who have impersonated in its examinations in the past ten years.

He made this known during a meeting of critical stakeholders on strategic planning and preparations for supervision and evaluation of administration of 2019 UTME.

Oloyede, said the examination has suffered cases of impersonation despite the different measures adopted so far by the board to prevent it, insisted that the names of impersonators in the past 10 years would soon be published to serve as deterrent to others.

According to him, the development would also expose many people now in high places who had in the past impersonated in the board’s examination.

He reveled how JAMB, under his leadership, introduced some new innovations for successful conduct of 2019 UTME, and enjoined candidates to ensure they comply with the rules and regulations of the examinations.

The examination which is expected to kick off from April 11 through 18th, 2019 would also in-cooperate candidates that are deaf, blind, including some prison inmates.

Have you found yourself wondering about how to take notes effectively as you study your textbooks for the forthcoming UTME or any exam at all? Here are 5 tips that will help.

1. The Type of Questions

Before you start studying your textbook, you'll need to find out the question format of the exam you're about to take, that is, the way the questions will be structured. This will help you be define the specific information you need to focus on while reading your textbook.

For example, the UTME questions are mutiple choice, and this type of questions require you to remember a lot of facts and details, so you will need to focus on terms and definitions.

2. Read the Textbook

You need to read the textbook before making notes. Get an overview of the material by reading the headings, chapter summary, and the chapter questions. This will help you know the information you need to pay attention to as you study.

3. Underline or Hightlight.

As you read along, highlight and underline the most revelent points in each paragraph, which are likely to appear in the exam. Make sure you don't highlight too much, just stick to important points, terms, definitions.

4. Summarize

Summarize chapters in your own words using the chapter headings and sub headings from the textbook, as well as use of bullet points to note important facts and definitions.

5. Visual Representation

Representing information with visuals like graphs, maps, chart and drawings can help make abstract and difficult concepts more understandable and welcoming, as well as make learning more effective and long lasting.

A shocking discovery has been made concerning a Covenant University student named Damilola who had been declared missing on social media. It turns out she faked her kidnap so she could go to meet her boyfriend, Mark Ikotun, in Ibadan.

The strange thing is that, all the while she was with her boyfriend, he was one of those tweeting about her being missing and asking for people to help find her. He led the search for her on social media and was begging for her return.

Reports say she later returned, claiming she had been kidnapped and ****, causing her friends and family distress, but it was discovered later on that she had staged the kidnap with the help of her boyfriend.

Some candidates seem not to know whether or not they are eligible for the 2019 JAMB Mock exam while others are asking how they can register now for the mock exam. Let’s quickly clear the confusion so you know if you are eligible to take the 2019 JAMB Mock exam which comes up April 1st, 2019.

In as much as a lot of you would like to take the Mock Exam, not everyone is qualified to do so.

If you did not indicate interest to take the mock exam during the 2019 UTME registration, you are simply not qualified to partake in the mock examination and there is absolutely nothing you can do about that now.

For those who indicated interest to take the mock exam, you can proceed to print your JAMB Mock exam slip if you have not already done so to be able to know your exam time and venue.

I believe this has helped to clear the confusion. However, if you have any more questions concerning the mock exam, please post it as a comment so the community can help you.

Examinations are set to test students understanding of a particular field of study. Most students are nervous about exams because of the fear of failure. This mindset is detrimental to your success in any exam and is one of the major mistakes made by students during exam preparation.

The major cause of failure among students during examinations is lack of knowledge of how to prepare for examinations. Unfortunately, most students have never learned how to study effectively for exams, or they use methods that are really not as effective as they believe.

Some students in this case actually prepare for examinationss but make some mistakes that hinder their chances of performing excellently in exams.

We'd like to point out some common mistakes students make in the course of preparing for an examination, and we hope this helps you prepare more effectively for your forthcoming exams.

1. Not Starting Early Enough

Studying for exams takes more time than you might anticipate, so make sure you get started early. Avoid procrastinating and face the challenge head on. Starting your exam preparation few weeks or days to the exam is dangerous to your sucess, and it doesn’t help retention and assimilation of knowledge properly thereby ruining your chances of performing well during exams.

2. Memorizing, Rather Than Understanding

Try to understand the fundamental concepts rather than memorizing facts from notes, textbooks or answers from past questions. If you’ve memorized a definition but don’t really understand what it means, you'll be unable answer questions on the particular topic if the information is presented in a slightly different format, or you’re asked to apply it to a new type of problem.

Rather than memorizing the information from your classes, use study strategies that encourage you to understand it. Explaining ideas out loud in your own words, or teaching them to someone else will help promote understanding.

3. Failure to Practice Past Questions

It is very risky to study textbooks without having an idea of how questions are going to be set in a material. Most of the times, examiners twist questions in exams and without having a prior knowledge of how such questions are answered, you cripple your chances of scoring well in the exams.

You can download one of the best JAMB CBT Mobile App (for android mobile phones) and JAMB CBT Software (for Desktops and Laptops). Both of them have over 40000 past questions and answers.

4. Not Having a Goal
You have to know the grade and score you'll need to successfully propel you unto the next level in your academic pursuit and work intensively towards it. In the case of UTME, you need to know the score which will give you a chance of admission into the university and course of your choice.

5. Not reading extensively

Another common mistakes among students when preparing for examination is failure to read broadly, and make use of materials that shed more light on the topics in the main text. Sometimes, examination questions may not be completely covered in the main text, hence the need for extensive reading of the material.

However, materials outside the main study material should not be a substitute for the main material, the aim of using additional materials is to better understand topics, and get more information which might not be available in the main text.

Several students have been left injured after some suspected cultists, on Tuesday, attacked the Oba Akenzua Secondary School and the Ihogbe College in Benin, Edo State. Both schools are adjacent to each other and are located along ICE Road, off Wire Road, in Benin.

Reports say that the cultists attacked the school during the day, and left several teachers and students with knife and cutlass wounds.

While confirming the incident, the spokesman of the Edo state Police Command, Chidi Nwabuzor said; “It was reported that one of the cultists was beaten by a student of Akenzua Secondary School during a fight, as a result, members of his cult invaded the school (Akenzua) with cutlasses and started fighting the students.”

Two of the suspected attackers were apprehended by the security operatives but they claimed they were innocent of the crime.

Emmanuel Agbale, the Edo State Commissioner for Education, who confirmed the incident, said no student was killed in the attack.

Agbale said policemen were quickly drafted to the area and the cultists were chased away. He also stated that students of both schools have always been engaging in fights. He promised that security in the area will be increased, and also expressed the plan for both schools to be merged together.

For now, the schools are be shut down due to the attack - he said.
