The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, introduced the biometric identification verification exercise as the basis of entry into examination centres for candidates partaking in the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination slated for 11 to 15 April, 2019.

Although JAMB has expressed ultimate confidence in the system, many candidates have expressed their fears in the ability of JAMB’s staff to carry out the biometric exercise effeciently, as well as the possiblity that the gadgets themselves could malfunction, resulting in the affected candidates being disallowed from taking the exam.

The biometric identfication verification technology adopted by JAMB is that of fingerprint verification, which has a number of flaws like how fingerprint recognition on the scanner can be affected by the slightest offset for a fraction of a millimetre, a change in pressure, skin damage and some other circumstances that affect the resulting image. Consequently, the scans of the same finger or face will always be different.

However, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board,JAMB in an attempt to allay the fears of candidates over biometric verification, has said that the capturing of candidate’s ten fingers have made it impossible to record disappointment during biometric verification.

Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Head of Media, explained that the board chose to use the whole ten fingers instead of just one, to serve as backup in case of failure. He asked stakeholders not to panic over possible failure in the biometric verification, insisting that it was not possible for any candidate’s whole ten fingers captured to fail the biometric verification.

His said, “You know, we are capturing ten fingers and we believe that ten fingers are sufficient enough for any backup in the biometric verification.”

The Lagos State JAMB Coordinator, Mr Babatunde Bamisoye, during the matriculation of new students at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, Yaba, warned parents against accompanying their children to Computer Based Test centres, which he said may hamper the successful conduct of the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

Bamisoye said, “As far as UTME is concerned, we do not allow parents to come into the premises of the centres. My advice to parents is that they should keep off because their coming has no value, rather it may hinder the success of the exam. Parent need only to get the students prepared with transport money.  Allow them to go to their centres and return home.”

He said that the board had visited the 78 accredited CBT centres and certified them technically fit to conduct the examination starting on April 11, and also emphasized the need for candidates to stay clear of the JAMB prohibited items.

A student of Michael Okpara University Of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia state, was filmed publicly harassing a girl over 20 thousand Naira

Reports on social media say the girl, named Jane, broke up with her boyfriend and he didn't take it well, considering that he had spent on her and allegedly once paid her school fees. He stormed her class to request for his money back and it quickly escalated.

In the video that surfaced on social media, the aggrieved ex-boyfriend could be seen hitting the girl at some point as he demanded for his money, and little was done by the students around to stop him. From the video it appears like there was more support and passiveness toward the attack than resistance, and some students actually aided in holding back the few who tried to challenge the ex-boyfriend.

We all know MTN is one of the strongest network in Nigeria, even though they do fumble sometimes. And as a matter of fact, MTN is my number one favorite network after 9mobile.
There are times you would want to do some serious **** online and the network tends to be slow or won't even load web pages complete. This is mostly caused when the server has been overcrowded.

MTN is one of the best and largest network provider in Nigeria with over 50 Million subscribers. In this post, I will be dropping three different APN settings for you to swap from whenever their network tends to be sluggish.

Fast MTN APN Settings For Smooth And Stable Browsing

What you have to do is to create three APN settings on your phone. Below are the APN settings. These APN settings also applies to MTN 3G & 4G sim

First APN

Name:                  MTN 1
APN:                     web.gprs.mtnnigeria .net
APN type:            Default
Proxy:                   Leave blank
Port:                      Leave blank
Username:            web or leave blank (your choice)
Password:             web or leave blank (your choice as well)
Leave the rest at default.

Second APN

Name:                  MTN 2
APN:                     web.gprs.mtnnigeria .net
APN type:            default,supl
Proxy:                  10.199.212.2
Port:                      8080
Username:           web
Password:            web
Leave the rest at default.

Third APN

Name:                 MTN 3
APN:                    web.gprs.mtnnigeria .net
APN type:           default
Proxy:                 127.0.0.1
Port:                    8080
Username:         web
Password:          web
Leave the rest at default.

he trick here is, you have to add these three APN settings, and swap from them whenever you notice slow connection on MTN.

In my own opinion, I prefer the third APN settings with the private proxy. Trust me I recommend that settings to you as well. But you know, it all depends on your area though. That’s why you have to try out all in order to see which one covers your need and of course, I will like to know which one works best for you in comment section below.

We all know that Glo is naturally slow in almost all locations. The browsing speed is really so frustrating even with full network bars. With this simple APN settings that I will drop here in this post, you would notice an increase in speed when browsing with your Glo sim.

I will be dropping two settings. One works well for both Glo 3G and 4G sim, and the other mainly works well on phone that supports Glo 4G LTE or 4G enabled phone. Try this settings if you got a good glo network in your location yet your browsing and downloading speed is slow.

Fast Glo APN Settings For Both 3G and 4G SIM
Go to Settings in your phone
Tap on Mobile Network
Then tap on Access Point Names
Now edit the Access Point Name you already have
Then change your APN to 10.100.98.22
That's all. Then Save the settings. You will notice a good increase in speed when browsing or downloading.

Fast Glo APN Settings For 4G SIM
Go to Settings in your phone
Tap on Mobile Network
Then tap on Access Point Names
In the list, tap on gloflat
Then scroll down and tap on “Bearer (Unspecified)” option.
Tick these list of networks (LTE, HSPAP, HSPA, HSUPA, HSD PA).

After that, save the settings and you are done. You would notice the increase in speed when browsing with your Glo sim. If it worked for you, please let us know in the comment box below.
