The Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has justified the present administration’s huge investment in education, saying the sector has been identified as one of the critical areas of intervention to improve both the state’s economy and its overall development.
Governor Uduaghan spoke while presenting cheques to recipients of 1st class Honours degree scholarship scheme to study doctorate degree levels and bursary award to students of the Nigeria Law Schoolin Asaba, on the 7th of December, 2012.
Each of the first class scholarship beneficiaries was presented cheques of N5 million for the duration of their studies. He disclosed that while the bursary for the law school students had been increased from N50,000 to N100,000, the first set of awardees would be given arrears of N50,000 each.
The governor urged the 1st-class scholarship recipients to be good ambassadors of the state as they step out to pursue further studies in any university of their choice, anywhere in the world.
