Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) Gets accreditation for eleven postgraduate courses.

Ignatius Ajuru University of Education received a fifteen man team from the National Universities Commission ( NUC), on resource verification for eleven proposed new academic programmes in the Postgraduate School.

Receiving the delegation made up of Professors from various universities in the country and NUC representatives, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele thanked them for responding to the invitation of the university with the visit meant to carry out resource verification exercise for the commencement of the Postgraduate programmes.

He assured them of cooperation and readiness to adhere to advice offered and to correct and implement whatever recommendations made.

Professor Ndimele however reminded them that the university, even though a young one has worked hard to achieve its present status within the resources available.

Leader of the delegation, Alhaji Ahmed Abu Ingawa said that they were at the university to ascertain the level of preparedness of the university in terms of human and material resources to start the proposed new postgraduate programmes in eleven departments.

He expressed appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality accorded on arrival and stressed that as a regulatory agency, it is the responsibility of the National Universities Commission ( NUC) to drew attention of the university to areas of need for improvement using the NUC benchmark, their reference document for the exercise.

The official from the NUC Department of Academic Standards pointed out that the monitoring exercise would not dwell or focus more on the age of the university but on the effort made to produce employable graduates relevant and competitive in a globalized world and who can stand the test of time.

He listed availability and accessibility of physical facilities, relevant and modern books and journals, staff offices, ICT centre, internet facilities, classrooms, library, electronic library, as some critical parameters to look out for and for them to be brought to acceptable level and standards.
In her vote of thanks, the Acting Registrar, Mrs Hope Keaniabarido Kue-Ikoro expressed optimism that the university would have a fruitful result.

She said that the quest for excellence by the university earned it full accreditation status for twenty one of its undergraduate programmes during the last NUC accreditation exercise.
Mrs Keaniabarido Kue-Ikoro hoped that they would give the necessary approval for the university to commence the postgraduate programmes after scaling through the hurdles of the resource verification exercise.

The following proposed courses were put forward by the university for the verification exercise.
1.Agricultural Education
2.Industrial Education
3.Home Economics
4.Science Education
5.Sociology Education
6.Educational Psychology
7.Guidance and Counselling
8.Educational Measurement and Evaluation
9.Curriculum Studies
10.Educational Technology
11.Language Arts
