Dr Abubakar Dzukogi has been confirmed as the substantive Rector of the Federal
Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State. The appointment took effect from May 21.
Dzukogi studied Mass Communication at the Bayero University Kano (BUK) and
with Second Class (Upper Division) in July 1983. He had his M.Sc. (Mass
Communication) from the University of Lagos in 1990. He attended a short course
in “Publish & Develop” in 1994 from the University of Edinburgh (U.K) and had his
PhD (Mass Communication) in October, 2012 from Benue State University (BSU)
Makurdi.
The new Rector joined the polytechnic as a Lecturer III in the then Department of
Liberal Arts on December 3, 1984 and served in various capacities such as Head,
Department of Mass Communication; Acting Dean, School of Applied Arts and
Sciences; Director, Academic Planning Unit; Director, Directorate of Continuing
Education; Deputy Rector, and Acting Rector.
Dzukogi served as Representative of Academic Board on the Governing council of
the Polytechnic between 2009 and 2011 and till his appointment as the Rector, he
served as the Representative of the Federal Polytechnic, Bida on the Governing
council of Niger State Polytechnic, Zungeru.
