Your liver has the main and vital role in your body, so it is extremely important to pay attention to its health. In order to do that, you should consume healthy food, do some exercising and adequate sleep.
Different functions and parts of your body can show symptoms when something is wrong with your liver. There are several different types of liver problems among which are cystic disease, hepatitis, fatty liver and gallstones.
You should definitely consult your doctor if you experience some of the symptoms mentioned here because it could be a symptom of hepatitis, kidney failure or chronic liver disease.
Here are the common symptoms:Loss of appetite
Loss of apetite is one of the first signs that appear. Those who suffer from liver damage may not feel like eating anything.
As we all know, bile helps break down fats so that they can be digestes. The problem arises when the food is not digested properly, which results in loss of appetite and even severe weight loss. People who don’t eat food will also feel weak and tired all the time.
Yellow Skin
Not only your skin turns yellow but your tongue, eyes, fingernail and fingertips as well.
This phenomenon is called jaundice. It is caused when the liver is not working properly, and instead of getting rid of Bilirubin (a yellow pigment) along with old red blood cells, it builds it up in the blood and body tissue. The Bilirubin accumulates in your bloodstream and then on your skin. So, it takes on a yellowish hue.
Visit your doctor if you notice yellowing of these areas.Changes in urine colorIf you notice that your urine has a darker color than usual, such as orange, amber or brown, it can be a sign of liver damage.
However, dark urine can be caused by several other factors such as side effects of antibiotics, a urinary tract infection, taking vitamin B supplements, enzyme deficiencies, dehydration and kidney problems.
When the liver is unable to eliminate bilirubin via excretion through the kidneys, the color of the urine changes.
Consult your doctor immediately if you notice your urine id getting darker.Abdominal Area ChangesAnother sign of liver damage is when you feel some changes in your abdomen such as bloating. Medically, these symptoms relate to the problem known as ascites.
Ascites is a buildup of fluid in the abdominal cavity, which happens due to advanced liver disease or cirrhosis. It can also be caused by non-liver disorders.
If you feel some changes in you belly, the best thing you can do is to consult your doctor.
