Adah's first day at Methodist school shows the demonstration of Adah's determination to go to school and the length she is willing to go to fulfill her dreams.
It is the reason her father,pa, registered her. And despite the challenges in her way to accomplish her goals Adah does everything within her to make her dreams become a reality.
Adah despite losing her father to the cold hands of death and which suggests truncation of her dreams by stopping to go to school, Adah found a way to sit for the common entrance examination by lying to her uncle that the money given to her to run errands has been misplaced. She endured all the torture and punishment meted out to her by her by receiving 103 strokes without crying. This incident leads to her uncle ceasing from talking with Adah. Adah eventually paid for the entrance exam, sat for it and passed excellently.This awards her scholarship in a secondary school.
Having passed her secondary school exams, there is need for her to further into tertiary institutions. However, she would not be admitted as she is underaged and definitely needs a guide or someone to stay with. She consider her options and discovers that she can go to the tertiary institution if she is married. Without no relatives to run to to serve as guardian, Adah married Francis which sets sail to her determination to go to school and further more in the United Kingdom.

Heathcliff was brought by by Mr Earnshaw on his visit to Liverpool. The coming of Heathcliff into the Earnshew's brings nothing but disharmony. Hindley as the first son feels threatened by the presence of Heathcliff. This is seen as how Mr Earnshaw treats Heathcliff fairer than his children. Hindley sees this preferential treatment and in turn treats Heathcliff cruelly. Mr Earnshaw after considering the curate's advice, send Hindley to a college far away from home. This further infuriates Hindley who believes his father took that decision because of Heathcliff.
After Mr Earnshaw's death, Hindley had to come home to manage the home. He came back with Frances Who reintroduce the rivalry between Hindley and Heathcliff. It is one of these rivalry days when Heathcliff and Catherine were send away from the sitting room that they decided to go for a walk. They wandered into the Linton's compound where Catherine sustained injury from a dog bite.
With this incident, Catherine had to stay with the Linton's for five weeks so as to get treated. Her (Catherine) stay with the Linton's open's her up to how she ought to behave as human and above all as a girl. This incident also brings her closer to Edgar Linton and further solidifies their relationship and later marriage.
Health cliff feels cheated in this case and decided to leave Wuthering Heights but vowed to come back to revenge. Three years later, Heathcliff fulfilled his promise, came back to Wuthering Heights to torment his oppressors (Hindley and Edgar).
Isabella, Edger's sister saw Heathcliff and falls in love with him. She believes Heathcliff would do same but how wrong she was. Heathcliff didn't bother to love her back but sees it as an opportunity to get back as Edgar whom he thought had married Catherine at his own expense
