cannot give her a grandchild. She takes the task to lead pokuwa through all forms
of spiritual sacrifices and purifications.
She nags pokuwa into divorcing her first two husbands. Even when pokuwa
become tired of the charms and sacrifices and announces her withdrawal from
fetish worship that did not stop her mother from withdrawing from the fetish
worship until she was blessed with a child pokuwa’s motther was a very strong
woman and she was so tough that kwadwo fears greatly that pokuwa might
divorce him.

4. Kambili, the protagonist is a shy and quiet girl of fifteen than shows very little
emotion living in the sanctuary of her calm.

The effects of harsh upbringing on Jaja by his father in the novel is negative as it led to his rebellion from the beginning of the novel, Jaja refuses to receive the holy communion because the “water” gives him bad breath. An action which was in outright defiance to his struct father’s authority. Emotionally shattered by his father’s autocratic was Jaja’s only way to liberty was to renal against the man whom he seas as a bully. when his father embarrasses his sister for coming second, Jaja encourage her by letting her know that she does not have to come first to be the best. Jaja begins to loose respect for his father as a result of his overhearing attitude. As a character, Jaja and his sister, Kambili initially seas their father as their hero but when they visit their aunty’s place during the holidays they discoverer personal freedom. They realize that their father had been too strict with them. Jaja is also arranged with his father for the harsh treatment method in he and his sister and construct beating of his mother. When his father violently throws a issal at him for his refusal to receive the holy communion his mother simply entered the room quickly and faces the broken Reggie which was hit by the missalo after Jaja parries it.
Jaja’s rebellion results in his not coming to dinner table with them as he openly expresses his displeasure with his father’s strict way.

his rival piggy suggest that member of the groups should stay at the beach in their own protection,jack immediately that an attempt should be made to count down the beast .Against the Ralph ldea because it will be his lost on who will take care of the young boys in the group,jack replies "suck to the littlelous" while saying that,it become obvious that he is only interested in himself and his ego as head of the hunter .a friend decision with piggy,while ralph,jack and the other boys go in search of the beast.

he symbolic meaning of the conch is the novel 'Lord of the flies' can be seen in the account of ralph discovered a shell on the ground and piggy al identifies it as a conch.conch symbolic a kind of megaphone that could be used to make noise that could attract the attention of the other boys that are stranded on the island
the conch was used when ralph follows piggy's advice and blows the conch,which brings the other boys stranded in various parts of the island together on the beach.
also,conch for ralph,piggy was a 'irrelevance' he ralph is only concern about his own well being .what the entails is that .piggy's ideas about together to form a group is the best things on ralph mind.
when they get the conch,piggy teacher ralph how to blow it to derive some sound from it.he does blows on it for sometimes and subsequently the noise or sound generated from it serves as a beacon,which begins to attract the other movement boys from different parts of the island.
this conch works at the suggestion of piggy,because the first child appear is a small johnny and subsequently several other boys also appear a piggy,always the considerate one,goes around asking for their name
8. Santiago, the old man as a stoic and
optimistic ma and that us why he held on
to his catch despite the challenges he faced
at sea with the sharks Santiago epitomes
man's struggle against defeat. Despite the
fact that people believe he has gone "Salao"
unlucky is still propelled by his belief in his
ability to succeed at sea. anybody would
give up after few days but he chooses to
endure eighty four fruitless days at sea and
jurneys father into a place called "The great
wall" on the eighty fifth day even when the
boy (his apprentice, abedons his boat and
goes with a luckier boat, he raw) doubted
his own ability although while struggling at
sea with the big fish, him. his stoicism
made the boy's faith in him unwavering as
the boy indicates during his occasional
visits when they sit to discuss baseball and
some other things even while other fishers
man make him of the old man, he stricks to
him. the old mans stoicism made him
struggle with the skiff during his attempt
to catch the gis fish. He also struggles with
other fish such as man-of-war, Bonito, Cat
fish etc. In his struggle with the great fishk,
all his zeal and strength is almost drained
but he carries on in his sees determination,
when sharks destroy the fish in he
ensuring struggle, he still made it to share
with the skeletons of the Randy destroyed
fish which he gives to Paderko to us as a
bait In the old man's episode wit the fish, a
tale of innermost strength and
determination is told.
